David F. Nolan, the Tucsonan generally recognized as the principal founder of the Libertarian Party and recently that party’s candidate for the 8th Congressional District in 2006 and for the Senate this year, has died at the age of 66. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, worked in the publishing and advertising industries for four decades, and popularized the “Nolan Chart”, a diagram to reflect a broader sense of the political realm than just the standard liberal and conservative linear metric. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. RIP Mr. Nolan. You were a good man and a patriot that wanted to make a difference in this crappy political system dominated by two corrupt parties. You will be missed.
