Amy Winehouse, troubled British singer, was found dead in London at her home today. When someone who struggles prominently with substance abuse dies, the discussion that follows the announcement of their demise is always going to be a mixed bag of reactions and looking at my Facebook feed, today is no different. However, for this music fan, Amy Winehouse was an incredibly talented singer and songwriter. I’d like to just remember a few of her great performances and be wistful for what could have been.
Addendum (said better than I could say):

I don’t have any sympathy for Winehouse at all – she was her own worst enemy and would NOT realistically deal with her addictions to alcohol and “heavy drug use”!! She was afforded many opportunities to change her reckless “lifestyle”… but lacked the necessary committment to change!! Life is all about decisions – and she constantly made the wrong choices – and paid the ultimate price!!
it was just a matter of time.
This lady had some pipes yo! I for one will miss her. All you fukkin haters, cast that first stone then go look in the mirror!
I loved her music and in turn loved her. It is tragic and a tragedy. Rest in Peace Little Amy.
Everyone has their demons, you either deal with them or you don’t. If you don’t, they will kill you the majority of the time(that’s pretty obvious) or make you deluded. Sorry to say, but she wasn’t any Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix, Jim Morrison or Kurt Cobain. She did have one of the best voices of this century (though there really isn’t much talent nowadays).
Suffice it to say, everyone saw it coming. Sure, it’s sad, but after a few weeks it will be old news and no one will give a flying ****! The world does not stop turning if a drug addict dies. I’m sure she had her enablers, most likely her father and, of course her dead beat ex. My only question is, who’s next, and when?
R.I.P Amy, too bad your only true friend was your self-inflicted destruction! (You probably had another two good albums in you. It’s such a shame. )
She was on drugs prior to her success and it started with Booze and Mary Jane. Great lady….no proper friends….
they wouldnt be talking crap if it were a member of there own family, shame on yous
Tragic death isn’t funny at all. Even when apparently a self-service situation.
No one is perfect ,but we all have our unique talents and gifts. Some are greater than others, but you should not be so judgemental of how another person deals with their life.We all have different parents and ways of being raised and that is part of what makes us unique. So if you can not say anything nice about another human being then “shut the fuck up!”,because I do not want to listen to bigots who probably do stupid shit too!!
“FU”. Really? As I have always been told, if you don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. That would apply to both the so-called “fans” and “haters”.
