It’s been a long day at Weekly World Central. We were just about to go home after getting the paper out to press, when we decided to do a little Facebook time-suck. According to a post from Adam Kinsey, Pima County Democratic Party executive director, no Republicans showed up to the NAACP candidate forum tonight at the Dunbar Community Center.

Well, I guess the Republicans didn’t think that the candidate forum hosted by the NAACP, Urban League and Black Chamber of Commerce was worth attending tonight…

Kinsey ‎followed up in a comment that 11 Democrats and 1 Green had the forum to themselves.

  1. It is time to set the record straight. I manage the campaign calendar for Senator Antenori, Representatives Gowan and Vogt – the LD-30 State slate. No notice, no invitation, no email, no phone call was received by any of these candidates.

This appears to be a clear attempt to set up these individuals and other Republican candidates as “No Shows”. Had the LD-30 slate received an invitation and the schedule had no conflict, THEY WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED THE INVITATION AND WOULD HAVE ATTENDED, whether LD-30 voters were there or not.

This ”No Show” at the forum appears to be a set up supported by the media and a great disservice to those who attended. Was the audience told that these folks were not invited? If not, this was a fraud. Very sloppy reporting, Maria.

  2. One might ask Ken M why he didn’t seek-out all opportunities to proactively get his message out, rather than whine…

The whole little poor victim act of Ken M and his ilk is getting old…

  3. I don’t think Ken Moyes is whining, he is just stating that it seems that Republicans weren’t invited/notified, yet the email from the Glassman campaign said otherwise, and so did the Pima County Dem Party newsletter (so they believed it was a forum for both parties, and other candidates like Ewoldt, the Independent who was there). Adam Kinsey, E.D. of the Dem Party was there and obviously had expected the Republicans to show as well. Jim Kelley (“The Cholla Jumps” at Tucsoncitizen.com) is checking with the 3 sponsors as to how the Republicans were supposed to have been invited.
