Rep. Ron Barber is currently in Tucson, recovering from a minor surgery that will keep him from attending votes this week in Washington.

From Barber’s office:

TUCSON — The office of U.S. Rep. Ron Barber today announced that Barber will remain in Tucson during votes in Washington this week after undergoing minor surgery on Monday.

“Congressman Barber was released from the hospital earlier today after a successful surgery,” Barber’s doctor, Audrey Erman, M.D., said. “He is expected to make a full recovery.”

The surgery yesterday successfully removed a cancerous tumor from Barber’s tongue. He learned of the tumor on Nov. 13.

Barber is at home in Tucson, recovering. He is feeling good and looking forward to getting back to work in Washington, D.C. next week.

Barber defeated Republican challenger Martha McSally earlier this month in a long, drawn-out race to represent Congressional District 2 that was decided by just more than 2,400 votes.

  1. Taxpayers better not be paying for his surgery and hospital stay. He is not worth the trouble, nor worth wasting money on.

  2. As he is a Member of Congress, I’m sure his medical expenses are being treated the same way ALL Members of Congress are treated, regardless of your thoughts to the contrary. Get well soon Ron!

  3. I wonder if OldDog would’ve spewed forth as much hate if it were someone who pandered more to his archaic viewpoints. Seriously, it’s not always about politics. Sometimes it’s about compassion, a concept OldDog seems to lack big time.

  5. ANYONE who undergoes surgery deserves prayers/well wishes/Kharma on their side! Shame on you Old Dog. And Cancer to boot. Unless you’ve literally watched a loved one go through the physical and emotional distress just the thought of cancer can bring, I suggest you keep your mouth shut. Sad thing is I pity you…

  6. As an Independent I wish Ron well and a speedy recovery. With so many sick comments, no wonder Arizona and Tucson is in the TRASH. They are the Taliban, Tea Party or Republicans. They hate everybody, so sad.
