Apparently Rep. Vic Williams would prefer not to be associated with the sliver of the city that falls within his district, according to Bud Foster, whose KOLD piece on last night’s contentious Pima County Board of Supervisors meeting has this delightful quote from Williams:

And he also took the city of Tucson to task for what he called the “miserable failures of Rio Nuevo.”

“We have to work with the city of Tucson and the downtown area because we see it becoming more decayed, less prosperous and we don’t want to be shackled to a corpse in our success,” he says.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

One reply on “Rep. Vic Williams: Not on His Best Behavior Last Night”

  1. A corpse? Yeah right – a corpse that has attracted over $120M in private investment in the past year. A rotting hulk that has new shops & restaurants going in as soon as the buildings are ready. Williams doesn’t want anything to do with downtown…and the economic engine that 1200 new residents is going to bring in (new private dorms announced this month). Vic must not know that there’s a new addition to the skyline downtown is rapidly nearing completion (Unisource building).

If Vic hates part of his district so much, perhaps he shouldn’t have the responsibility of representing it.

    Bo knows – Vic don’t.
