Hank Stephenson of the Arizona Capitol Times catches up with state Rep. Brenda Barton, who got national attention for comparing President Barack Obama to Adolph Hitler in a Facebook post:
But in a telephone interview with the Arizona Capitol Times, Barton stood by the comments, saying the comparison between Obama and Hitler was apt, at least in their style of leadership.
“He’s dictating beyond his authority,” she said.
Barton said Obama is leading America down a slippery slope away from a constitutional democracy toward an imperial dictatorship and the people of America should be aware. She said murdering millions of Jews, gypsies and gays wasn’t the only thing that happened in Nazi Germany, and America under Obama is looking a lot like the early days of Germany under Hitler.
“It’s not just the death camps. (Hitler) started in the communities, with national health care and gun control. You better read your history. Germany started with national health care and gun control before any of that other stuff happened. And Hitler was elected by a majority of people,” she said.

Another Republican NUT JOB!!!
We need many more Reps like Brenda Barton to stand up and say what Obama is doing. Instead of critizing her we should be thanking her for having the guts to say what Obama is doing.
No, we do NOT need more reps like Barton. We need reps that live in the real world, not some GOP fantasy land.
“dislike” is a totally inadequate response to GWF222’s comment. We need another thumb. In addition to the green up and the red down, there should be one labelled “you must be freaking kidding me!” “unbe-freaking-lievable” would also work. You can pick the color, although black might be appropriate.
I love Brenda Barton. Wish we had more like her.
The “other stuff”?! What a bunch of crap.
How have people not heard of Godwin’s Law at this point? Even so, let’s go over some of the key differences between Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler:
Obama burst onto the political scene by giving a well received speech about the need for unity and having wishy washy hope for the future and love for your neighbors. He then wrote a book detailing the same hippy love bs, four years later he was elected president in a democratic vote which he won by a substantial majority. His two terms have since been like Clinton on hardcore mode, with the Republican opposition being even more nasty and partisan then they were in the 90s.
Hitler on the other hand charged into a beer hall with a machine gun with the plans to give a rousing speech with the intent of using the mob’s anger to instigate a Mussolini-like coup and to size power by force. When that failed he got sent to the big house wherein he wrote a popular memoir detailing every person he hated and wanted to “get rid of,” and his glorious war plans for Germany’s future. Flash forward to a few years later where his party used paramilitarism, false flag attacks, and brute force to cause the Weimar Republic to cede control to him. He then immediately started consolidating his power, and murdered the living hell out of his political rivals and opponents (brownshirts, the commies and the unionists) and drove the survivors into exile. Once this was done he then turned his attention to certain undesirable social groups, and you know the rest of the story from there.
Now if you read these two paragraphs and you noticed the similarity in that they both wrote popular books before they were in office, and therefore they are one & the same; you might just be a little too retarded to vote, much less get elected to office, or hold any job that requires a high school diploma.
She obviously has a very tenuous grasp on reality and no knowledge of history at all. First of all Germany has had universal health well before and after Hitler; he had nothing to do with it. No, he did NOT enact any sort of gun control, that is an NRA lie.
Most egregiously, HITLER WAS NOT ELECTED BY THE MAJORITY OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE; he was appointed Chancelor by the president von Hindenburg in Jan. 1933, and the NAZI party never had over 40% of the vote even at their heyday. When v. Hindenburg died later that year he took over the office of president as well and changed his title to Führer.
As much as I believe in equal opportunity I don’t think that people with an eighth grade education should be representing us in the State Legislature.
This is the best you can do AZ? Shouldn’t you change your mind now that you know she’s a nut? Or does republican =nut, you decide and we will watch.
The President asked for a budget bill, not yet another hackneyed attack on Obamacare. You cannot hijack the country over an existing law. Last time I checked, shutting down the government is not a legitimate way to overturn a law. Everyone wants to tout the Constitution but the simple fact is, we are not talking about a budget here. We are talking about trying to overturn a law in the court of public opinion and through one part of the bicameral legislature. It simply does not work in that manner. Boehner increased the budget ceiling 19 times under President Bush. Where is the outrage about the budget? About the people out of work, the parks closed and the tentative housing market that may now be jeopardized due to this smirking grandstanding by grown men and women who should know better? This is NOT about healthcare.

Comparing this president to Hitler, that remind me when democrats used to compare President Bush to Adolph Hitler. when he took us to the war against Saddam by misleading the American people that Saddam was responsible of what happened in 911,and that he has had weapon of mass destruction. All that was proven to be completely false. That war was about oil, period.Although I’m an Independent, I do not believe that the government should shut down because of Obama care. Congress passed that law and the supreme court upholds it.Elections have consequences. From the very beginning of his presidency, some, people began to hate this president just because he’s black. So, no matter what he does, the extreme group of the GOP will always find a way to oppose him.
The Obama care is not perfect, but do not shut down the government for something that became a law.Instead, bring a positive idea as to how to improve that healthcare law, by setting aside hate and special interest views.Imagine,Democrats shutting the government down under President Bush terms in the office, because they want immigration reform or a new gun law. Let’s grow up!!! Obama care is here to stay, let’s find a way to improve it, by adding a” public option” that was being removed to please the GOP!!!!,who are still not happy. The current healthcare system(not the Obama care) is a disaster for this nation and his economy. Any proposal that will reduce the number of people instead of having more than 30 million people with healthcare, will not be a better option. The GOP will lose the house to independent next year if the government does not re-open by the end of this week.

@ Dan R. Anderson: Saying that Brenda Barton has an eighth grade education is giving her way too much credit.
Since I am a fan of ’80s era Rush, the song “Witch Hunt” refused to leave my conscious while reading this drivel.
I sent this extremist Tea Party member a message on her Facebook. Asking why she was building up this nation instead of destroying it. The Tea party has said they will shut down the government, we don’t need a central government in DC.
The Tea Party law makers are like 4th grader, not educated. And those that are DR., Vets. etc. know nothing about the working of the government. They want DC to operate unlike how they would operate their own business or pay their bills. They are INSANE
The problem is that the republican party is acting more like nazis since they are blocking a free vote in congress – and it s Der furher not De shisshhhhh! the are some real dumb f+*ks in that nut wing party….
Enough with the Hitler comparisons. Just work hard to insure this kind of legislator has the influence she deserves–none. Ad hominem arguments just make people mad. Effective opposition keeps them as unimportant as they deserve to be.
This nation has changed with elections since 2008 and Obama was elected. The Republicans and the Tea Party, if they don’t like who got elected, they do recalls, like in Colorado, the Tea Party is recalling the 3rd senator who got elected. If they don’t like how the Senator votes or the views, they just do a recall. Thus, elections are on going. The Tea Party continues to disrupt what and who the voters elected. This is happening in DC too. The Tea Party is a radical group organized for disrupting and closing down governments, whether in the states or in DC. But the Tea Party is being driven by huge donations by billionaires and large funds, thanks to our US Supreme Court. The courts ruling has taken away the voice and the votes of the people, and get it to the rich. I was thinking the Supreme Court was protecting the people, but that is changed with the Conservatives in the court. They are now turning our nation over to the Billionaire and big business. I see a steady decline in the USA. The people are more poor, no jobs, bad economy and a Congress who only mission is to do nothing. That is what the Tea Party runs on. Do nothing and stop the operations of the government.
Rep. Barton is living proof that George Bernard Shaw was correct when he said, “Democracy is a system of government that ensures we are governed no better than we deserve.”
Specious nonsense. This infantile kind of remark is attention seeking clap trap. As a UK citizen, it makes me sad that the richest nation on earth has commentators that fail to address the real issues that face your society and string arguments of no merit that are really just personal attacks on a president who is trying to solve your social problems, however I adequately.
