Well, you can wish for that, and it certainly would be a logical outcome of the outrageous circus of criminal corruption and contempt for humanity that’s been playing out in D.C. since the Rs got full control, but our electoral system is no longer logical (if it ever was). I’m betting the midterm wave crashes short of the beach.
Considering that all the same structural advantages are still in place for Republicans–gerrymandering, voter suppression, dark money, etc.–and that they are, in fact, just getting worse with the passage of time, the wave would need to be much bigger to actually flip control of Congress.
Things will probably tighten up considerably in the House, but I’d be surprised if the Ds actually gain control of either chamber.
