So, radio personality and Best of Tucson winner Jon Justice posted this joke(?)/remark about the continuing drama in Ferguson, Mo. on Facebook this morning:

Our question: is that racist? YOU DECIDE.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. This particular source of racism in Tucson is supported by advertising dollars paid to the Journal Broadcast Group. If enough Tucsonans insist on supporting businesses that advertise elsewhere, it will come to an end.

  2. Jon Justice the fellow who migrated to Tucson after leaving Michigan over a drowned dog hoax scandal which cost him a job there! I guess some see his comments humor, some see them racist and others are neutral! I guess it depends on how one sees the world, how one sees other people “not like themselves”! Racism is not a color, race, culture, social economic status, religion but a mental attitude of “my kind is better than yours”! Using that gauge a racist makes themselves what they are by what they say and write!

  3. One has to remember some of Jon Justices most famous/infamous guests, the now in jail founder of the minute men on charges of child molestation, the former state senate president who hob knobbed with the late Neo-Nazi commander who killed himself and 4 others in a murder suicide, one a infant! Anyone but me remember the mysterious caller he had who claimed to be a criminal gun runner? Did he report the fellow to law enforcement or was this one of his shills he uses quite often to bolster his show with controversy?

  4. Jon Justice show ought to be renamed…..propaganda wing for the extreme right wing republican party/tea party!

  5. I think the most sensible thing I have read is all law enforcement being required to wear body cameras, two things will happen, honest cops cannot be falsely accused, dishonest cops will either become honest or get fired, and a penalty ought to be used much like when one refuses a breathalyzer test, automatic suspension of drivers license, turning off a body camera automatic dismissal from job!

  6. To be fair, people who are looting probably do not work. I agree with Renee Bailey, it’s more classist than racist. But it certainly walks a fine line.

  7. Tucson Weekly…. Stop being stupid. It’s only racist if you assume that the only people rioting were of a particular race….. Which would be racist.

  8. A dwarf goes into an Irish pub and finds the most ginger, muscle bound, shamrock tattoo loving Irishman at the bar. He walks up and whispers to the ginger, “I’ll buy the rest of your drinks if you let me give you a blow job”. So the ginger picks up the dwarf, carries him to the alley and kicks the living hell out of him. Bad. A trash can went flying at one point. When the ginger returns to his seat, the bartender asks, “what did that dwarf say to you?” The ginger replies, “dunno, something about a job.”

    There’s your Irish joke, gandalf.

  9. /It’s sad when people can look at a situation where so many are hurting and the take-away they get from it is “Hur-durr. look at them…”

  10. It’s a joke damnit. Same reason they don’t put shoe stores next to trailer parks…But I don’t expect you to get that one either. Go watch some Blazing Saddles and get over yourselves

  11. I listen to Jon Justice, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levine, they all have one common denominator, extreme right wing, extreme dislike for folks they deem less than them, one can not make anyone a racist, its always been and always will be a self made deed, much like the old bible says about a false prophet, you know them by which proceeds from their very mouths and in modern days with printing presses, computers the written word!

  12. Less than 300 votes on this comment, wonder how hard Jon Justice worked to get his fans to this site to counter the negative view of his comments?:-) In a city of 500,000 plus, with a democrat majority electorate he and his backers have been unable to turn this area in southern Arizona to the dark side/GOP ruling class, demographics is working against him and his ilk! He was on television for a time, peddling his right wing hate in visual form and his hyena laugh did not do the ratings much good I guess since it is no longer on air! Racists expose themselves by what proceeds from their mouths, written words, no one needs to call them one!

  13. Comedians peddle humor, right wing hate mongers on radio waves peddle right wing hate, racism, bigotry, etc., doubt the two mix well but guess humor to racists likely runs to the dark side of some folks human nature!;-) The good thing nationally GOP registers 32% of the electorate, Arizona it runs about 34% thank god imagine if they had a true majority of 50.1%!

  14. How can that statement possibly be racist?? Besides, that Famous Footwear may have never been looted had they posted a “Now Hiring” sign on the front door!! Just saying….

  15. The P.C. world has become quite TEDIOUS! -Lighten up people & allow yourself to smile & laugh w/o analyzing (sp?) thru ur political prism!

  16. I haven’t read all the comment so I apologize if I am repeating what could have been written earlier, but people who WORK don’t usually go out LOOTING. Anyone else agree?

  17. Greedheads and thieves loot, and some of them work, too. Mr. Justice is a know-nothing asshole, and part of his shtick/agenda in playing to the rather substantial know-nothing asshole market audience is demonizing and ridiculing people of color. This is just S.O.P. for Mr. Injustice.

  18. It IS a funny joke but when told by this boob it becomes racist. I only know him from his late night TV commercials which seem to run at the same time as the erectile dysfunction commercials.
Keep the guy here but know him for what he is, a pitiful little man who came here from somewhere else because his last broadcast staton was in a strip mal next to a shoe store that wouldn’t hire him {he was looking for sizes that could fit in his mouth}.
Boy, I sure hope Martha McSally doesn’t go on his program.
