Politico suggests that Congressman Raul Grijalva is facing a real challenge from political newcomer Ruth McClung:
Add Rep. Raul Grijalva to the growing list of Democratic worries this election season.
Party operatives say there’s increasing concern that the Arizona Democrat’s reelection bid could turn into a “sleeper” race for Republicans after Grijalva — responding to enactment of a tough new immigration law — called for an economic boycott of his own state amid a housing crisis and record unemployment.
Four Democratic sources from different parts of the country said that there is new attention to a race that was long considered in the bag.
And a recent poll, obtained by POLITICO, found that Grijalva and Republican challenger Ruth McClung, a real-life rocket scientist, were in a dead heat, even though Washington prognosticators have declared the deep-blue seat safely Democratic.
As they work to buttress their majority against a coming Republican storm, Democrats can ill afford to spend time or resources defending incumbents in seats where they should have a clear advantage. But the Grijalva seat potentially being in play is a sign of the increasingly expanding Republican playing field for the midterm elections.
Another tidbit:
A recent poll by Magellan Data and Mapping Strategies found that among likely voters Grijalva is leading McClung 40 percent to 38 percent, well within the margin of error of 3.7 percentage points. Thirteen percent of those surveyed were undecided, while 9 percent backed other candidates.
Those results may or may not be an accurate reflection of the state of the campaign. Colorado-based Magellan serves mostly Republican clients and the poll of 686 likely voters on Sept. 29 was an automated telephone poll, generally considered less reliable than those conducted by live callers.

Be particularly observant of absentee balloting, as it’s not that complicated for foreigners to vote and alter the direction of voting numbers. The whole system of “Honor Voting” has been compromised in the last ten years and may have severe implications in close races in LA and in every other precinct across the country. The Tea Party, moderate Conservatives neither genuflect to either the GOP elites or the Liberal Democrats. It’s been the obligation of both parties and is they are entirely to blame through the years. This DOJ states they are arresting more illegal aliens than ever before, but what they are silent about–it’s only the criminals and for the most part they are releasing average illegals without a criminal history back to our streets. YOU CAME TO THE US WITHOUT BEING INSPECTED, YOUR A CRIMINAL.Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer, who has used the race card and has the same Modus Operandi as Sen. Harry Reid in enacting new laws to maintain illegal immigration. First bill in the next session of the Senate will be another try at Amnesty by Reid, Pelosi and Napolitano. Voting–YES–on funding Sanctuary Cities (March 2008), even when deaths at the hands of illegal alien criminals has spiraled out of control; Voted—YES–on Comprehensive Immigration Reform–Amnesty; Voted–NO–In declaring the English official language of government; that would save millions of dollars in judicial documents in 176 foreign languages and professional translators for court appearances (June 2007).
Voted–YES–on another Guest Worker program (May 2006), resembling the 1986 Immigration Control and Reform Act gave Amnesty that upped the population and in addition voted–YES–on illegal aliens being able to participate in our Social Security system (May 2006), that is on the rocks now and then providing Social Services to non citizens. Heaven help us—Americans have worked all their lives to collect Social Security, to keep them afloat for the rest of their lives. But Barbara Boxer has attracted the people’s outrage to join the rest of the Liberal crowd to enact this legislation, allowing foreigners who have never paid into this financial pool access to our Social Security? In my view as a Tea Party advocate–ALL these incumbents should be shown the road out of town, tarred and feathered.
Federal law already has mandated free health care for anybody, who can dodge the US border Guards, plus education for their children and an overcrowded prison system. Estimates are over a hundred billion dollars a year, with a large proportion spent to support the instant citizenship of babies intentionally born here. None of these massive taxpayer funds cover the draining of public welfare at the State, County and city outpouring of welfare payment in services and cash. IF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT WAS EVER HONEST ABOUT STOPPING THIS UNVOICED INVASION, THEY WOULD HAVE MADE ILLEGAL ENTRY INTO AMERICA A FIRST CLASS FELONY. It’s easy to speculate that the majority of illegal aliens who appear here are far from the highly educated, the individual and their families that are not business owners, wealthy or those with any special abilities. This cut throat illegal labor are sought by degenerate employers, for the value of no traditional obligations of offering benefits such as health care. Once again the US taxpayer takes up the slack for these federal obligations of free emergency room visits, free schooling for their kids, that has exploded in billions upon billions of dollars throughout this sovereign land.
The people who flee from south of the border, Latin countries, Asia are people who have no job skills, desperate and penniless. They come to USA with the compliments of their countries officials, since our society has been negligent and a dumping ground with a border easily circumvented. American taxpayers have become unfortunate subservient pushovers by years of our administration in supporting these recipients of our welfare system. They arrive from countries that are overpopulated through religious conviction, dictatorships and our nation has developed into a behemoth relief valve to all other lands woes. Below our border those governments have never placed any restrictions on their people illegally migrating here, explicitly since estimates of 60 billion dollars are transferred from the illegal workers remittances to their foreign banks annually.
I am so proud of the positive campaign Ruth McClung has run. She would be a fine Congresswoman for CD7.
Grijalva had the guts to stand up to a discriminatory and unconstitutional law; this is what I expect from my Congressman. Not some one that would roll over and let our state be destroyed by a law that clearly creates a division among our people. We need to work together to overcome and prosper – not be torn apart by ill-conceived laws. STOP THE HATE – – KEEP GRIJALVA!!!!!!
And dont forget what starts Boycotts, they are a call to action to combat injustices. Arizona governor Evan Mecham rescinds MLK Day as his first act in office, setting off a boycott of the state. The NFL moves the 1993 Super Bowl site from Phoenix, Ariz., to Pasadena, Calif., because of the MLK Day boycott. Arizona citizens vote to enact MLK Day. The Super Bowl is held in Tempe, Ariz. in 1996.
Grijalva has clearly demonstrated that protecting the people of his state means far more than politics we should all fight to keep him protecting us!!!! He has fought to bring stimulus money to our state – the repubs would have voted against bringing BILLIONS to AZ as well as privatizing Social Security – all our retirments would be lost in Wall Street! Is this the leadership we want? Do we really want to go back down this road – the Bush era made our national and local economy crumble! We must not go back.
It’s such a straw-man argument to say that electing conservatives will take us back to an era of reckless spending (which is exactly what this congress and administration are doing right now). As many have said, “this is not your father’s GOP” and that’s a true statement. The new GOP is tired of those beholden to racial groups, pork spending supporters, and entitlement ideals. This country was founded on freedom and self-determination, not handouts. Taking back America from the left is exactly the right medicine for both our social systems and our economy. Grijalva wants us to be overrun from the south and handout OUR money to non-citizens (along with boycotting AZ)…so he’s gotta GO!!! I live in AZ CD 7 and I will proudly vote for Ruth!
