We mentioned a few weeks back that we were hoping that someone would step to challenge Mayor Jonathan Rothschild this year—and our casting call may have been answered.
Chuck Williams has filed paperwork to run against Rothschild in August’s Democratic primary. Williams attended Rincon High School before reaching for the stars in Hollywood as an actor, director and producer. You can check out his IMDB page or his “fan page” for the details of his career, but he’s been in two of The Range’s favorite movies: “Bubba Ho-Tep” and “John Dies at the End.” You will presumably find out more about his positions on the issues at his campaign website.
We’ve reached out the Williams to learn more about his political plans. Details to follow.

Damn, I was going to run myself!
Political plans? mayors in Tucson have NO political plans. Just look at the city. They would be at ribbon cutting ceremonies if anybody moved a business or built a building here, like they used to.
This might get interesting.
Rothschild was able to convince many Tucsonans that he is business friendly. In reality, he is marxist through and through. Will a ‘today’s Dem’, a liberal, be able to make that contrast?
Maybe the race could be based on who will say no to the most amount of private sector jobs in Tucson.
Let’s give all the candidates a math test.
In the first six months of operation, ChooChoo Farley’s boondoggle, the streetcar, averaged revenues of about $80k per month with December revenue down to $40k.
The yearly operating expenses are expected to be about 5 million per year.
Question 1 – how much per month is $5million per year? If the candidate is a graduate of TUSD and/or has a spanish surname, this question will be waived.
Question 2 – where will the money be found to pay for it?
I’ve known Chuck Williams going on 30 years now and have watched his leadership skills, business prowess and compassion grow. While any political position these days seems to have become a double bind for the participants, it’s my opinion that Mr. Williams has the ability to effectively negotiate such treacherous terrain.
Mr. Williams will make a great Mayor! The people of Tucson should do themselves a huge favor and elect him…
I’ve known Chuck for over 15 years and he is a wonderful person who stays positive no matter what comes his way. More importantly he keeps his word 😉
After looking at his bio I can safely say I have never seen one of those. That may make him a great candidate, but I’d like to know what he sees wrong with Tucson.
Mayor Rothschild has already done so much. Maybe too much.
Chuck Williams is about as smart, compassionate and trustworthy as it gets.
I’ve known Chuck Williams for the better part of 15 years. He is focused, determined, intelligent, and more than able to get things done. I think he’ll make a fantastic mayor.
I’ve also worked with Chuck Williams, and he’s a dedicated, honest, and compassionate man. He’s also an extremely driven and focused leader. I have no doubt he’s capable of turning things around in Tucson.
