On last night’s Political Roundtable, Pima County Democratic Party chairman Jeff Rogers and Republican strategist Sam Stone talked about the latest twists in the June 12 special election between Republican Jesse Kelly and Democrat Ron Barber, looked ahead at some of the big races of the upcoming 2012 election season and shared their thoughts on Tucson City Councilman Paul Cunningham’s troubles.

  1. I find it interesting, that Mr. Jeff Rogers and Mr. Sam Stone don’t discuss Mr. Charles Manolakis. I have been asking around and you would be SURPRISED how many Democrats that won’t vote for Ron Barber have voted and will vote for Mr. CHARLES MANOLAKIS He is the true candidate to represent the Democrats, not the old, puppet, Ron Barber. YOU GET THEM CHARLES… The candidate for the 99 %.

  2. I do not know Charles Manolakis. I did last year vote for Jesse Kelly. I will not vote for him nor Ron Barber after this negative type campaign style for what a 6-month term. How many are tired of those negative adds and more I am sure will be coming in the final week. Ron Barber is not Tucson’s hero David Hernandez , who saved Gabby’s life is more deserving write-in votes than Mr. Barber. I know Tucson needs to create jobs and my write in guy no-one heard of has created jobs and hired hundreds at a call center near the Tucson Airport AMPAC. John Pilgrim is the guy I am writing and even once held a political office of mayor. He now resides in Green Valley and is the most postive man I ever encounter in my 57 years of life. Southern Arizona CD 8 special election needs a positive candiate . Write in John Pilgrim or David Hernandez!

  3. I find it interesting that Republican Sam Stone said that European austerity is not a road we want to go down and it is the result of 70 years of Keynesian economics.

The Republican “Ryan Budget” and their whole idea is European-style austerity! It is a tested fact that it is not working for Europe. Why do they want to do it here….and then say they aren’t.

Remove pensions and benefits for state workers – firemen, cops, teachers.

    Cut spending on everything.

Basically what they are doing in Greece, Spain, Italy and Ireland. That’s the Republican’s Ryan Budget.

  4. How is using Jesse Kelly’s own words to let people know what he wants to do to Medicare, Social Security, the minimum wage, etc being negative? Every ad gives a specific source, whereas the Kelly ads make claims about Barber that have no sources cited and in fact have been called misleading and false by multiple Fact checkers.

  5. Hey Rick, there is no austerity program in the U.S. at this time……in fact there is no austerity program in Europe at this time and thats the problem!!!!………….

  6. This was a fairly good episode. That is, markedly improved. Jim Nintzel seems less befuddled and better able to ask questions when Andrea Kelly and Christopher “Butch” Conover are not on the set.
