After the jump: Last night’s Political Roundtable. Pima County Democratic Party chairman Jeff Rogers, Republican consultant Amilyn Gordon and Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik dig into whether Democrat Richard Carmona has a chance against Republican Congressman Jeff Flake in the U.S. Senate race; preview the race between Republican Jonathan Paton and Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick in Congressional District 1; give Republican Gabby Mercer low odds of unseating Congressman Raul Grijalva; unpack Pima County Supervisor Ray Carroll’s win over GOP challenger Sean Collins; look ahead at the upcoming supes race between Republican Ally Miller and Democrat Nancy Young Wright; explain why two of Ally’s GOP opponents are complaining about campaign-finance mysteries related to her campaign; wonder about “dark money” in county races; check in on downtown revitalization; and touch on the Koz’s proposal for humane greyhound treatment in the city limits.

  1. Steve Kozachik, Is the finest role model for both Democratic and Republican party’s candidates. Steve has rekindled the flame of good old common sense, decency, and civilty in politics. His unbias approach in reaching across party lines for the benefit of the entire community, despite opposition from his own party, reflects his desire to serve the people of Pima county residents, too the best of his ability.

  2. My biggest disappointment in the Arizona primaries was the (expected) loss of Wenona Benally Baldenegro to Ann Kirkpatrick in CD1. Had she won, there would have been a much clearer contrast with Jonathan Paton, while Kirkpatrick will offer more concessions to the right. Also, I would have preferred Dr. Matt Heinz over Ron Barber in CD2, but I can live with Barber. So, now our best Arizona Congressperson will continue to be Raúl Grijalva, who should easily defeat Mercer in CD3. I was sorry to see Don Bivens drop out of the Senate primary and leave it all to Carmona, who is clearly a better option than Flake.

    Keep up the good reporting!

  3. Gotta hand it to Nintz for always finding back stabbing “so called” Republicans to bolster his liberal panel of propaganda. Koz is a stooge for the left and either he knows it and does it willingly or he is an unwitting stooge. You pick.
