Marana

Someone, or more precisely several people, took a considerable amount of trouble to steal a very valuable quantity of … well … bees, according to a PCSD report.
A Marana beekeeper on state land called the Sheriff’s Department to report that sometime the previous week, unknown people took eight beehives containing 68 boxes of bees (with the number of bees in each box unknown). They also took another 40 bee-box lids containing bee wax.
He said the bees and equipment were worth $5,000 to $10,000.
The reportee said “nobody has as many as he does,” though many people around him kept bees. He said he could identify his boxes and lids and was going to scour the area for the stolen ones—at this time he just wanted to make a report (not call deputies out for a search). He was mailed a victims’-rights pamphlet.
