WHEELCHAIRING WHILE INTOXICATED

An inebriated man in a motorized wheelchair assaulted and harassed
patrons of a local store, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s
Department report.

A deputy met with employees at the Ace Hardware store where the
incident occurred. They said a man in a motorized wheelchair with one
leg and “mental issues” had been harassing customers in the store and
had physically attacked one customer. He had been using foul language,
aggressively yelling at customers and demanding to know whether he was
bothering them. He asked the employees odd questions involving the
devil and “the four horsemen.”

When asked to leave by employees, the man allegedly pointed his
finger at each staff member as if he were shooting them with a gun.

When it was clear that employees were going to call law enforcement,
the man allegedly said, “Satan kills people that call 911.”

Eventually, employees reported, a male customer confronted the
subject and said he was indeed bothering him. The subject stood up in
his wheelchair and punched the customer, breaking his $500 glasses. The
subject then fled the scene in his motorized wheelchair.

Deputies caught up with the man at Houghton and Sahuarita roads and
arrested him. En route to jail, the subject kept talking about being
friends with Alice Cooper and said the deputies “were all going to be
in trouble” when Alice Cooper got to town.

Asked about the incident, he said he had gotten angry because he had
been asked to leave Ace Hardware after “letting a curse word slip.”

The man was booked for disorderly conduct, assault and threats.

SEPT. 12, 4:53 P.M.

A woman escaped arrest after stealing large amounts of laundry
supplies, a PCSD report stated.

The cashier at the Circle K at 3102 E. Benson Highway reported that
a 40-year-old woman with black clothing and a very large purse had
entered the store acting suspiciously. She went directly to the aisle
with the laundry detergent and left the store with her huge purse
bulging.

When the cashier looked at security-camera footage, she saw the
woman stealing two large boxes of Tide powdered detergent, two large
bottles of Tide liquid detergent and three bottles of Bounty detergent.
She also stole one box of Bounce laundry-softening sheets.

Deputies could not locate the subject. The cashier did not speculate
as to why the suspect might have needed so much detergent.
