In what was likely one of the UA’s more unsettling “found property” cases (which usually involve a lost ID or cell phone), someone turned in a fully loaded gun magazine discovered near Tucson’s most beloved site for desert walks, a University of Arizona Police Department report stated.
Two UAPD officers were flagged down on Anklam Road by a nearby resident, who said he’d found “a gun magazine with live ammunition in it” by a gate to the pedestrian path up Tumamoc Hill. The officers identified it as a chrome seven-round magazine for a Springfield Armory XD-S handgun, filled with seven Hornady brand .40-calliber bullets.
The magazine was secured in a property-and-evidence locker. Its owner hadn’t been identified at the time of the report.
