It turns out pole-dancing can improve your fitness when applied properly. (Be careful checking the link if you’re reading this at work. It’s all fun and games until the boss catches you ogling pole-dancing pics on company time.)
If you like what you see at the Web site, consider sipping a little wine and watching as several pole-dancing pros show off their repertoire at an open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at the Tucson Pole Fitness studio at 4152 E. Grant Road.
And should inspiration truly strike, an introduction to pole dancing class takes place after the demo from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. It costs $35, and there’s still room for nine more students.
Men: You’ll have to build your own studio or join the fire department to get in any quality pole time. Tucson Pole Fitness only caters to women.

Well then someone is going to have to start an all-male go-go studio, because once this pole studio opens everything’s going to be way out of balance.
Sounds Awesome!! What a great way to get a SUPER FUN workout and have a great time with the girls! Free Wine, giveaways and Pole Dancing! 🙂
Poor women!
You gals get inundated with the ‘Beauty Myth’ from a very young age. This is the idea that you are not pretty enough, or whatever. News Flash! – you don’t need to dance on a pole to be sexy! Just show up – you are all beautiful.
Oh, and pole dancing can improve your fitness? Yeah just like washing dishes or a thousand other things you do during the day. This idea is just another stupid LA fad designed to make someone $. Humans have known how to lose weight and be fit for thousands of years – there’s not much new under the sun. And society looks down on strippers for a good reason – they lack dignity – not a good role model.
Lets be real here, This is just a fun event for women to go do something a little out of the ordinary with their girlfriends and burn some calories in the process. (and trust, you can burn A LOT during these high intensity workouts) There is no harm in taking on a new fitness endeavor to help spice up your workout routine! As all of us who like to workout know, its hard to stay interested with the same old gym routine. This is not offensive in any way, the instructors do not have women taking their clothes off during class, they are teaching them a workout routine that burns calories and helps build strength.
And FYI, this isn’t some new fad from LA either, its been going on all over the country for a very long time now, and big cities like NYC, LA, Chicago, etc have many successful professionally run businesses that do wonderful under this “Pole Dancing” premise. For example Sheila Kelley’s S Factor, that has grabbed attention all over the media and tries to inspire women empowerment.
So no need for the “poor women” sympathy… Ladies, try something new and fun!
Way to say it, Dana! ANON, really, it can’t hurt to be a bit more positive when discussing something that could encourage more physical activity.
Perhaps someday there will be street walking classes…you know: new and fun along with free meth.
