That is disturbing!
Yes very disturbing, and even more so since Pearce is the president of the Arizona Senate. Arizona is going the wrong direction. Neo-Nazism is growing in the state at a an alarming rate. Hate crimes have risen so that Arizona (& Tucson) is now off the Red Cross list for places to resettle international refugees. I think this all ties back to some of the frustration and comments that Dupnik commented on this past week and the rise of hate crimes.
Even sader, we have legislators from So. Arizona, like Al Melvin (LD-26) who blindly support this guy, his policies, and are his step and fetch it.
Russell Pearce and other AZ Republican legislators have stated that the deaths on Saturday could have been prevented if everyone there had a gun, not so subtly implying that the victims are to blame. One even said something like “If everyone had a gun, there would be no more victims.” This is the absurd and offensive mentality of Russell Pearce.
The shooter had the element of surprise and a semi-automatic weapon. Was little Christina suppose to carry a gun? The elderly couples?
But that is Pearce’s mentality. Spreading fear and paranoia and getting everyone to believe you need a glock to go to Beyond Bread for coffee and the gun manufacturers laugh all the way to the bank.
If everyone Saturday had had a gun there might have have been 60 fatalities instead of 6 as everyone opened fire at once.
