Letter that went out today to all Pima Community College employees:

Dear colleagues:

After much thought and prayer I have decided to leave the Interim Chancellor’s position earlier than originally anticipated, which was June 30, 2013. My final day as Interim Chancellor will be Friday, April 12, 2013. I have selected this date to allow the Board of Governors the necessary time to identify a new Interim Chancellor.

It has been an honor serving in this position. Pima Community College is a wonderful, vibrant institution that will surely overcome our present difficulties. However, it has now become clear that my continued service as Interim Chancellor could be viewed as an obstacle to moving forward.

Many, many thanks for your gracious support over the past 18 months. Although it has been a challenging time, I have never lost sight of the reason we are all here: our students. I want to wish you, our talented and dedicated faculty and staff, as well as the Board of Governors, all the best. I look forward to returning to work with my Community Campus colleagues, students, and the community as their President.

Warm regards, Dr. Miles

Suzanne L. Miles, Ph.D.

  1. It’s about time. Dr. Miles has been proven wrong if not knowingly wrong multiple times during this two year debacle. Thank God the 3 women had the sense to not make her the permanent chancellor last year. Her Pima Prep Academy has not lived up to her advance billing of extreme success (which was predicted by many knowledgable people); her responses to the HLC have been called dishonest by the investigative team as well as by the Faculty Senate. She has clearly been promoted way beyond her skill set. Why? Only Flores and 4 members of the Board know.

  2. Miles. here Administrative/Faculty minions, and this complicit BOG must be removed from PCC…..COMPLETELY.

A criminial investigation needs to be initiated.

These PCC Administrators and BOG did not fall out of the sky. In the first instance, they were appointed by a BOG that were elected by the Voters of Pima County.

Until the Citizens/Voters of Pima County take more of an interest in the PCC BOG elections, and elect individuals with a strong background and commitment to Education, and no questionable connections to the Institution…NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!

  3. PCC, your tax dollars wasted. What a mess. Did you see that PCC wants to increase fees to pay for “staff” raises?

I think a pay cut would be in order until the entire mess is FIXED!!!!

  4. Why should it be believed that PCC’s “troubles” did not extend to the students, they did.PCC Administration was only there to protect other PCC Administrators.I complained long and loud to my Dean on how the classes I was taking were not setup correctly to allow me to enter the workforce prepared. My complaints were shuffled off to to side just like I was. I had to see the Dean in charge of more than half my instructors merely to get my emails returned. I asked one Dept Chair why extra credit work was in the required grading section. He off hand remark was “think of it as “extra learning”.One of the biggest problems with the teaching staff is over use of adujuent instructors, they are paid so little it is hard to get them to care for all the students and not just a select few.
