We mentioned yesterday that the Conservatives for Congress Committee had released a poll showing Republican Jesse Kelly with a big lead over former state lawmaker Jonathan Paton in the GOP primary race that will decide which Republican faces Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

The Paton campaign has complained that the poll can’t be trusted because the Conservatives for Congress Committee wants to see Kelly win.

Here’s some evidence in favor of that argument: The Conservatives for Congress Committee is running a radio ad that hammers Paton for “shamefully hitting a fellow Republican below the belt” because he’s been picking on Kelly. It also reminds listeners that Paton lost to Giffords in a race for the House of Representatives in 2000.

Listen to the ad here.

  1. well, l listened to the ad and there is nothing in it, that is not true. Gabby beat him before, when she had little experience. She came in first and won, out of four candidates. He came in not second, or third, but fourth. (last). This is public record.

It is true he has more experience now, but so does she. On several occasions he voted with her and the Democrats. Tim Bee voted with the Republicans. This was really an error on his part. If you claim to be Conservative , then don’t vote with the Democrats.

True, he voted for a big Tax Cut in 2009, but one year, does not tell the whole story. You need to look at his WHOLE record, since he was voted into the House of Representatives and then the Senate. He also voted for the biggest State Budget in 2007, stating they had money, but that tells me he cannot look forward into the future and he does not have experience with Budgets.. We have been told since childhood to save for a “rainey day”. His business background is lobbying, which is not a bad thing. What concerns me is “who he lobbys for” and is it in the best interest of his constituents? Not when they have to pay 390% interest on loan..
