North Fattoria Italiana, the new incarnation of NoRTH at La Encantada at 2995 E. Skyline Road, opens tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 19. And while it will be located in the same building and have almost the same name, officials with Fox Restaurant Concepts, who own and operate the place, say the new eatery is a “complete departure” from what was previously happening there.
The interior design is said to be modeled around the idea of a rustic farmhouse and the food will sort of follow suit. All in all, it sounds like the restaurant is shooting for something a little more casual while keeping the quality of the food very high. Antipasti, pizzas, a meat-slicing station and lots of other rather impressive sounding eats are on deck.

Sounds like a Mimi’s Cafe but with better food.
Hope they can control the noise in this space.
“keeping the quality of the food very high”
Was this statement to be taken seriously?
While both the food and the service was excellent when I went there for a birthday celebration a year ago, my major problem with North was the noise level. The night I was there, there were two adjoining long tables full of what appeared to be a corporate dining out, get-together, congratulatory type of meal. About 40 people were induced to listen to the guy at the head of the table next to mine extoll the company’s accomplishments and virtues. Unfortunately, this guy had never heard of using his “indoor voice” and the acoustics in North did NOT complement his efforts. Hopefully, the new ambience will allow those at a table for four to hear themselves speak without shouting and survive the evening without their ears ringing for days afterwards. As to the drunken tables full of corporate poobah’s, there were two event busses in the parking lot waiting to take them home….thank God.
I ate there the day before they closed for the remodel. I hope the food, decor is better. Not good. Had a very good server. Thats about it.
