It appears that plans to have a Triple-A baseball team play at Hi Corbett Field have hit a snag. The city of Tucson announced earlier this afternoon that “contractual commitments” prevented them from renting Hi Corbett out to the Tucson Padres. We understand that “contractual commitments” have to do with Jay Zucker’s Golden League Baseball team, the Tucson Toros, who won’t be playing at all next year.
Instead, it looks like Triple-A team will be playing at Tucson Electric Park after all. Y’know, unless we manage to screw that up, too. Details to follow.

I am glad they won’t be at Hi Corbett. I hate watching a game there behind that giant netting they have running around the infield. I would much rather watch a game at TEP…a much more fan-friendly park. I hope it all comes to pass.
I am glad that there is someone else that thinks the park formerly known as TEP is a better place to watch a game than Hi Corbett! I’m afraid that many people allow politics to cloud their view of reality, the new park is much easier to get to and provides a great experience if you let it. I hope that we can show potential owners that this is a good city for baseball although our history is not good.
