Nimbus Brewing Company is opening a new location called Nimbus Ice House in the old My Big Fat Greek restaurant building at 95 W. River Road.

Kevin Brown, a manager at Nimbus Bistro and Brewpub, a joint venture with Metro Restaurants that opened last September at 6464 E. Tanque Verde Road, said he expected the new location to be open in eight to 10 weeks. He said more details will be available when company officials finalize the plans next week.

Metro Restaurants will not be involved with the new Nimbus location, according to a company official.

  1. If this is River Road near Oracle, that Big Fat Greek Place is a deadly location for new restaurants. I’m not sure why. Wasn’t it the Arizona Ale House and also a Japanese place in the past five years?

  2. Maybe Nimbus will be able to pull off the same magic they did at Nimbus Bistro and Brewpub. That spot at 6464 E. Tanque Verde was Keatons, then City Grill, then Ristorante Italia, then the bar at Italia was rebranded the i-Bar to try to pull in recession-spooked diners, and then it closed to make way for Nimbus, which has been a success. If Nimbus pulls it off again we’ll start calling this phenomenon “The Nimbus Touch.” You heard it here first.
