So now the Lute and Christine Olson divorce battle has spilled over the KRQ morning show. Lute complains that Christine is out to destroy him and the Arizona Daily Star is a willing accomplice, while Christine says she’d never do such a thing and Lute has turned into a big old liar. “This is not the man I met six years ago,” Christine says. “This is not the man I married.”

  1. Wow. Worth checking out.

In case you don’t, a few noteworthy points:

    Lute speaks awfully good legalese.

When he’s asked (sorta) if his relationship is largely to blame for his absence during the basketball season, Lute responds, “Yes. There’s no question, it’s stuff that I’ve dealt with for the for the last 4 1/2, 5 years.”

Lute: “I don’t think anyone’s been able to question my integrity, ever.”

He bashes the Star unmercifully: “constantly trying to start to create problems…such a negative-type paper…they are out for one thing, and they think that’s what sells papers…from an integrity standpoint, it’s missing from that segment of the community.”

Of the upcoming season: “I’ve never felt more energized than I do right now.”

Lute is a fan of Jimmy Buffet and the Eagles, and remembers people’s names.

OK: Is Lute the shit, or bat-shit crazy?

    Discuss.

  2. What a sad state of affairs. I would imagine that recruits that Arizona is courting will be played this tape. How does going on the radio and whining about your soon to be ex and the press help either his divorce case or the basketball program? This kind of behavior is so irrational that it makes me wonder if there’s something else going on here.
