It was another rough day for the folks who toil at the morning daily.
Sources tell the Weekly that another half-dozen or so Arizona Daily Star employees were laid off or otherwise given their walking papers today. We’re hearing that those employees include much of the library staff, online dude Eric Hess and metro team leader Ignacio Ibarra (who took a late buyout).
If anyone else out there has additions or clarifications, let us know!

Longtime Star photojournalist, and all-around great guy James Wood was also let go.

I do know a thing or two about Tucson, Anon. I know what and where 4850 S. Park Ave. is, and I also know it had nothing to do with Shadegg and The Daily Show. Thanks for the source offer, Anon, but we prefer non-anonymous sources. 🙂

That’s the sound of another nail being driven into the coffin of the Arizona Daily Star. Soon, very soon, it will be laid to rest next to the Tucson Citizen (RIP).

I would not have said this five years ago, but maybe a Tucson edition of the Republic wouldn’t be such a bad idea. It seems more and more that the role of the ADS is to be a wrap around for grocery store flyers.
