Pima County Democratic Party volunteer Curtis Dutiel called Michael Hicks out today on the Tucson Unified School District governing board member’s Daily Show “performance,” while at the same time calling out board members Mark Stegeman and Miguel Cuevas for supporting the guy. Fun and politics with Facebook:

How can this idiot deny what he said in the interview ? The evidence is on tape. Better yet, how can this guy be involved in our children’s education?
He doesn’t even address the whole “Uh..1/4?” drivel. Just all- around embarrassing. Is it too much to ask that school board members have AT LEAST the level of education required of the teachers they allegedly lead (and in Hicks’ case, have the nerve to call for the wholesale firing of?)
In fairness to Mr. Hicks, it’s my opinion as a daily fan of the Daily Show that they heavily edit those segments. He is correct that these segments are produced for entertainment. It’s very difficult for the viewer to know what exactly the interviewee in these segments said, and in what context.
Still, I think the general premise of the segment, that Mr. Hicks’ agenda in shutting down these classes is done in poor judgment, is an accurate one.
While we’re at it, let’s recall that ass Stegman too!
I’ve heard him whine about this subject and frankly, he’s as much a dud as Hicks…
Its going to be difficult to admit one’s from Arizona after watching and listening to Mr. Hick’s discourse on the The Daily Show. I believe he is ready to join Arizona’s other heavy hitting buffoons like Gov. Brewer, Sheriff Joe of Maricopa and Moe of Pinal. But I think Mr. Hick’s attempt to micro manage curriculum is far more dangerous to the community, especially with the obvious deficits in his own world view.

I can not believe this man has any such say in our children’s education. This exhibit of pure unadulterated ignorance, alone is enough to make me contemplate a move from the state I love dearly.
TDS is known for it’s “gotcha” interviews. They don’t let answers slide. If you’re a credible person, working with good intentions in the public interest, your answers will reflect that. On the other hand….reality will slap you dead in the face if you’re just shilling. I’ve seen many, many of these interviews; ultimately they portray those interviewed in the most realistic light I’ve ever seen done on any show–news or otherwise. Hicks should find a nice place to hide in shame while resigning.
Even with ‘editing’ there is no way to justify what Michael Hicks said, and the school board to have taken this action to ban these classes. Arizona really is going off the deep end and should not only be embarrassed but ashamed of itself for its anti-immigration policies. It is he laughing stock of the county
Rosa Clark never went into a bus with a gun… we laugh because Hicks exhibits less than a 3rd grade education…but the implication goes unchallenged… that Tucson students go into school board meetings with guns… unreal…
