Minnesota Governor Pledges to Veto a $400 Million Increase in School Funds. The problem, according to Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton, is that a $400 million increase in school funding isn’t enough. He’s demanding that the Republicans add another $125 million to the total.

Newark, NJ, Mayor Joins Mob, Blocks Major Thoroughfare. It wasn’t actually a mob Newark Mayor Ras Baraka joined. He came together with hundreds of teachers, parents and students who were protesting the control of Newark schools by the “education reform”/privatization leadership in the state capitol.

Bank Robbers Who Stole Billions From Citizens and Communities Go Free. These aren’t people who rob banks. They’re bankers who rob people. “Five big banks have agreed to pay about $5.6 billion and plead guilty to multiple crimes related to manipulating foreign currencies and interest rates, federal and state authorities announced on Wednesday.” No one, so far as I know, is going to jail.

Los Angeles Takes Money From Businesses, Gives It to Employees. The L.A. city council voted 14-1 to phase in a $15-per-hour minimum wage by 2020. L.A. joined Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland and other cities by ratifying the raise.

First Lady Kicks Butt, Thinks She’s a Good Role Model for Children. Actually, it was a heavy bag Michelle Obama kicked, and punched (rather convincingly, I might add). It was part of her “#GimmeFive” campaign on healthy living, showing kids that exercise can be both fun and good for you.

Dorothy looks for a heart and finds none, as Governor Koch sends his monkey army to destroy public schools and universities, and sends the Reproduction Police into every bedroom in the State under orders from Cathy, “Taliban” Herrod.

  4. I am so impressed that they are teaching and encouraging students to exercise their vote. They have already seen and it appears to have learned from people who do not vote(you Dems who did not vote). I have often been impressed by the fact that Republicans vote more than Dems in midterms. I am so surprised anyone could find such a healthy education to be not good. Is anyone saying that they should NOT be teaching people who are old enough to vote to NOT vote or to not make it accessible ? I didn’t think so. Any good American would encourage all who can vote to vote. Learning to recognize our responsibilities as good citizens to vote is important. These appear to be the same people who want education funds to be cut. Apparently some here just don’t believe in educating people. Very very sad. And they have the audacity to call it ‘indoctrination’.

    With the budget cuts, how many TUSD administrators have lost their jobs? Please tell us.

    Robs our schools? State budget cuts did not allow buildings to fall into disrepair. TUSD let them fall apart. Students have left for other districts, and revenues HAD to be reduced. TUSD still doesn’t see what’s coming. They graduate kids that can’t make change at a cash register, can’t read, and they believe they need to understand voting? What would they vote for? Handouts.

I would like to post some information because I saw the cost of educating vs. the cost of incarcerating from 40 states recently. It is shown that Arizona is on the very low end of what it spends on education and TUSD is even at the low end in Arizona. Just one more fact for all who are concerned about finances: Southern Arizona is 200 teachers short because the pay is so low. Administrators need to be paid and they are not high at all compared to other states Taxpayers should be begging to pay more in taxes for education.   7. One only needs to compare salary ranges and it explains the myth that the left wants you to believe. Funding is less because pay scale is lower.

    salary ranges: minimum salaries from $45,000-$50,000, maximum from $75,000-$82,000 and average from $50,000 to $55,000-Washington Post, salaries for teachers in DC.

    Based on local market and cost of living. Real estate is 25% of the cost of the areas cited above.

    If there was a thriving job market and low tax base salaries would be increasing.

    You can’t have it both ways. States don’t print money. Only the fed does when they are buying elections.

  8. Obviously some didn’t read all that I wrote. We are 200 teachers short( a lot of that is in Tucson) because the pay is so low. Look on TUSD’s, Sunnyside’s and others to check this out. It is no secret. People can get jobs almost anywhere without the stress and hard work teachers do( and are highly educated and keep needing to go to school) for the pay given teachers here. Again, it certainly appears that some think education is not important if they value their teachers and important administrators( I would not do their jobs for all the money in the world) so little. Nobody can be cut. We need every single teacher. We also want to attract quality teachers. This won’t happen at what Arizona is paying teachers…. nor should it. And somehow after 7 years of cuts, we are suppose to keep up buildings and books too? Exactly how ? Do not tell me there is waste. Every single cent is accounted for unlike in charter schools. 40 million in fraud and counting with charter schools! They are finally being investigated because they are corporations making bucks off of kids. Not all of course.
