We mentioned in this week’s Skinny that former Air Force squadron commander Martha McSally filed the necessary paperwork for a rematch against Congressman Ron Barber earlier this month.
McSally sent out a statement to the press yesterday:
I am humbled by the overwhelming enthusiasm and encouragement I have received from the across the district to run in 2014. Everywhere I go, people are asking me to consider another run and offering incredible support to ensure victory this time. We came so close to winning against so many odds in 2012. I served in uniform for 26 years and ran for Congress in 2012 with a conviction to continue serving and leading at a critical time in our community and nation. After much consideration, I have decided to seriously explore the option of serving in this capacity again.
In a preview of the race that could lie ahead, Team Barber spokesman Rodd McLeod responded:
With McSally, it’s always about herself, her plans & political ambitions—but Martha McSally has no plans for helping middle class Arizonans, and just like last election, she hides her positions on the the serious issues that affect our families.
This article appears in Jul 11-17, 2013.

I wish Martha would seriously explore gainful employment in a field other than politics. We don’t need another RNC drone in Congress.
Both Ron Barber and Martha McSally will become aware of another independent type republican libertarian leaning challenger who is building a formidable campaign team, who can raise lots of money, and who has 9 years senior level Reagan Capitol Hill experience. While Ms. McSally, who rarely has or offers an opinion on the issues, is the anointed one of the Republican National Congressional Committee, this challenger is his own man and will stand up against the current direction of Congress, as it is time that the people are represented again and not the special interests nor the party elites. Mr. Barber may or may not run, but if he does not run, few will notice since he has not done much of anything.
An independent type republican libertarian leaning challenger from the Reagan Revolution? Sounds like another John McCain Maverick 2.1.
Good! It’s way past time this Barber character got a haircut.
McSally is doomed to failure again…..
