We’ll have more about the Tucson Tea Party event in this week’s TW, but we wanted to mention that Sen. John McCain had quite a senior moment during his stump speech to the crowd today.

“We’ve got make sure we cut no one’s taxes!” McCain roared. “No one needs their taxes cut and we will not, we will not cut people’s taxes and by the way, our first agenda item should be repeal and replace Obamacare!”

Perhaps realizing his blunder, McCain quickly added: “We will not raise anyone’s taxes! No one’s taxes should be raised!”

This is why it’s helpful to have Sen. Joe Lieberman by your side.

BTW: The gays really outdid the Tea Partiers in events at Reid Park today. The Pride in the Desert event—which is still underway—drew a much bigger, and much more enthusiastic crowd than the GOP event. Er, we mean Tea Party event.

  1. When you’re are as old as McCain it’s easy to make those type errors! I think it’s time that Grandpa go home and sit in his rocker where he belongs!

  2. I was at the event and it was pretty funny when McCain said that while the crowd was attempting to correct him. We knew what he meant, but it was funny none the less.
