Captain Mark Kelly, Co-Founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions, issued the following statement after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed H.B. 2517 and H.B. 2339:

“As Arizona residents and gun owners, Gabby and I applaud Governor Brewer for vetoing these two misguided bills that would have made our communities less safe. By taking away the power of our local leaders to decide when to allow guns in public buildings and penalizing leaders who act in their community’s best interest, these two bills were an affront to our local elected and law enforcement officials. As a state with a long and proud culture of gun ownership, Arizona must have laws that balance our Second Amendment rights with our responsibilities as gun owners. These two bills failed to strike that balance, and we commend Governor Brewer for recognizing the need for commonsense, moderate solutions to reducing gun violence.”

    Go crawl back into your hole, and quit crowing like you made the sun come up. This was not about you, or Gabby. Those bills were vetoed for good reasons, which were enumerated when she announced the veto.

    One would have put too much of a burden on local communities. The other was just piling on to something which was already a crime, something the progressives normally do, and which our legislators in Phoenix should not try and emulate.

  3. HB 2517 was the balance. If We the People disobey a law, we can be sued civility or prosecuted criminally. We can be driven in to bankruptcy to defend ourselves. When government breaks the law (Tucson), they bear no financial burden because they will just tax us to pay for the defense of the alleged violation.

    This bill (HB 2517) provided the balance by putting the lawmakers on equal footing with We the People.

  4. Can’t this goombah revive a conglomeration of “Lost In Space” & “Gilligan’s Island” {my apologies to any surviving cast & crew of these two episodes for any besmirching}? The man uses his rank to promote political actions despite it being against the law to do so. He has no respect for that law and therefore humiliates the rest of us who do. Shame on him and those who stupidly support this man who is a parasite to Ms. Gifford’s injury.
    The governor supports this legislation but vetoed the one because it was a fiscal burden on local communities. I would like to see a revival of both measures done in a more pragmatic manner.
