Claim: The Damage Done by Illegal Immigrants Should Be a Censored Story

I think you left out the biggest story not covered by the mainstream
media in 2008 and 2009 (“Censored! Oct. 22). The damage done by illegal
immigration is almost a taboo subject within the mainstream media. They
filter the truth and facts through their political views rather than
just report the news when it comes to immigration.

Even during California’s huge budget crisis earlier in the year, the
media refused to address the financial burden that illegal immigration
causes. With low estimates at $3 billion per year and high estimates at
$8 billion per year, the financial burden of illegals in California
certainly rises well above the level of scapegoating.

The mainstream media doesn’t cover the financial hardships caused to
American families in the construction industry caused by illegal
immigration. They don’t cover the protests by inner-city black
Americans who have had jobs taken away by illegal immigrants. They
didn’t give any coverage to the billions of dollars in stimulus money
given to illegals that was sent via Western Union to Mexico and out of
the U.S. economy.

Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera has openly said that the media shouldn’t
cover the bad side of illegal immigration because it hurts the
self-esteem of young Hispanic males. The rest of the media seem to have
taken a similar stance. The Arizona Daily Star and The
Arizona Republic
have become unreadable because of the propaganda
they peddle.

News outlets should report the news. Maybe that’s the bigger story:
The media is filtering which facts and which stories get reported, in
accordance with their political beliefs.

Claim: If You Have a Weak Immune System, Perhaps You Should Avoid Vaccinations

Just because Tom Danehy is capable of spelling the word “science”
and lots of other big words doesn’t mean that anyone should pay any
attention to what he wrote in his column on the topic of flu
vaccinations (“Ignorance and Stupidity Are Leading Too Many People to
Avoid Flu Vaccines,” Oct. 15).

His own personal ignorance is exactly what is leading him to call
people who want to avoid vaccinations this very thing: ignorant.
Someone such as he, who claims to rarely have been sick and who gets
over a cold in a couple of days due to it dying of boredom, is most
likely blessed with a very functional immune system and a good set of
genetics.

Unfortunately, there is a segment of the population consisting of
people who lack his wonderful immune capacity, and in his ignorance,
Danehy might think these are the very people who should be getting
immunized against all types of the flu and other things. Very
unfortunately, there are many medical professionals who hold this same
opinion.

Autoimmune disorders are on the rise in our society and world. There
is a lot more to it than meets the eye, and what you think you may
know, you don’t. If you spend a lot of time researching the topic, you
still won’t even skim the surface.

Having had an autoimmune disease for almost 30 years, and having
used myself as a lab rat for much of the time—since what
allopathic medicine has had to offer me is limited and has at times
been far more damaging to me than my own careful experiments—I
can say that my experience has taught me far more about what a body
with autoimmune malfunction can tolerate than any medical literature
could tell me.

Once the immune system no longer functions as it should, the body
becomes unable to detoxify even the tiniest amounts of thimerosal
(found in vaccines, which is, in essence, the toxic heavy metal
mercury). Everything snowballs from there—viruses, bacteria,
parasites, fungus … all reside symbiotically together with mercury in
the body of the immune compromised. You don’t want to burden an already
overwhelmed system with yet something else it cannot fend off in a
vaccine.

No, a better answer is to chelate the heavy metals and help support
the body’s detox systems by using supplements to help one bypass
genetically faulty detox pathways and reduce other chemical exposures
in the air, food and water one consumes, thereby putting less stress on
the system. There are also many natural products that can bolster the
immune system and actually kill viruses of all types.

One has to start researching themselves, taking responsibility for
themselves and their children and depending less on what an “authority”
figure tells one to do.

Clarification

Due to incorrect information from a source, we reported in “Tough
Times” (Currents, Oct. 22) that during AIDSWALK 2009, the Southern
Arizona AIDS Foundation raised an amount of money that was on par with
previous years’ fundraising. However, after the story ran, SAAF let us
know that this information was incorrect, and that the amount of money
raised this year was actually the lowest in years—even though the
number of participants had indeed increased.

We apologize for the confusion.

  1. Democrats want the votes, Republicans want the cheap labor and more customers, the Catholic Church wants parishioners and misguided, guilt ridden Liberals use the issue to give their self-righteous egos a pat on the back. No one will speak out because it’s politically incorrect -you could get in trouble at your workplace.
American Citizens through their representative passed immigration laws and the government won’t enforce them. No one stops to think that by helping them you hurt others. People decide what they want first and then twist the facts to justify lies. We all bemoan the mote in our brother’s eye while remaining blissfully unaware of the beam in our own. 2. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DEPORT, MAKE E-VERIFY PERMANENT. THEY WILL SELF DEPORT WITHOUT WORK BY ‘ATTRITION.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada used a procedural move to chop an amendment offered by Sen. Jeff Sessions that would have required unemployment compensation recipients to be verified through E-Verify. The working program accessed on any computer from Homeland Security, clearly can remove illegal alien workers, unless their documents prove otherwise by identifying their legal status at Social Security. A clear stand that Americans must be forced to compete with foreign labor. Simply speaking it just illustrates to me that he cares–ABSOLUTELY NOTHING–for the 15 million American Workers. Reid is more concerned with fulfilling his obligations to pariah businesses that want to hire illegal aliens instead of citizens and legal immigrants. We must keep pushing the Senate-House for a mandated-permanent E-Verify that cannot be rescinded by either party. SEE THE OTHER COLLABORATORS AT NUMBERSUSA, AND REMOVE A FEW FROM OFFICE IN 2010, INCLUDING SEN. REID. No question in my mind that these ruthless politicians, are out to derail E-Verify as they are/were in consultation with the Supreme court judges. You must wonder what tricks there up to, in seeking devious advise about the constitutionality of Arizona’s immigration enforcement laws. If these administrations have manipulated their own immigration laws, or ignored them altogether. Why should the government try to intimidate states, because the people got tired of nothing being seriously accomplished by those morons in Washington?

It’s authorized for appropriations for three years, but that doesn’t mean these jokers in Washington cannot side-track of completely obliterate it? I will repeat that HS chief Janet Napolitano has made some excuse to weaken the 287 G, general police rights to question and arrest illegal aliens on the streets or higways, if they have been trained by the feds. Even ICE raids are down to a trickle, obviously softened by the Democratic leadership? Senators and Representatives are all suspect, so call them at 202-224-3121. AMNESTY means OVERPOPULATION that needs your urgent attention at CAPSWEB. Be armed with knowledge of the coming BLANKET AMNESTY and how it will effect your paycheck. Once the word goes out millions more indigent, uneducated neglected people will rush the borders, or overstay their tourist visas to reach US soil.

  3. Re : Claim: If You Have a Weak Immune System, Perhaps You Should Avoid Vaccinations

As I commented on Danehy’s article, the soundest advice anyone can be given is to follow their physician’s advice and treatment. Only a medical professional would be able to interpret the data produced by research and make a decision in the best interests of your health based on that. No Doctor wants to get sued with medical malpractice.

Therefore, working with your own Doctor is the best and safest course of action that can be pursued.

  4. If you have a weak immune system, you certainly should get the vaccines because those with a weak immune system have been the biggest victims of the flu.

  5. RE: Prop 200
It was overwhelmingly defeated, but before the press fades on Prop 200, I wanted to speak up for the many realtors, like myself, who wanted nothing to do with it and worked hard to defeat it. It is atrocious (and possibly even illegal?) that TAR (Tucson Association of Realtors) poured over $135,000 dollars into something so ill-conceived, and without the consent of its membership. Of COURSE when surveyed, most citizens say safety is a concern. Like fresh air, enough money to pay rent, a close playground… safety is a concern. But to manipulate statistics that clearly show a decline in violent crime over this decade, to hype it up with fear-mongering like that which one hears from rightwing pundits, that’s what’s criminal. I am a downtown realtor who has never, not once, had a client tell me they won’t choose Tucson because of our lack of adequate law enforcement. What builds community and neighborhoods are the neighbors! Events, community education & opportunities, working together to put in water harvesting, to clean up elders yards, to watch out for one another… that is the best focus for Tucsonans who want to improve well-being and a sense of comfort in our homes. Count me as one realtor pleased that we defeated Prop 200!
