It is with heavy heart that I say that Arizona Greyhound Rescue has another lost greyhound. This little gal, who never raced, had just spent the day at Ina Road Animal Hospital on at 7320 N. La Cholla Road and was going home when she slipped her collar and took off running. This happened on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. She miraculously crossed over Ina Road and has been seen around La Canada Drive. She desperately needs medical attention. She’s a fawn (caramel color) female. Do not chase the dog.
If you see her or want to help in the search, please call 886-7411.
Her name is Lorraine and you can see her picture here (scroll down). Thank you.

Arizona Greyhound Rescue has many volunteers looking. We have also faxed all the veterinarians, pet groomers, pet stores, and schools in nearby zipcodes.
At noon we received a call that someone saw her at 9 a.m. at Sunset/La Cholla. Lorraine has travelled quite far just a short day after being spayed and having stitches.
Today I went out looking in the area of La Cholla and La Canada and Ina and Orange Grove. Could there be more washes and desert in the area? We saw a coyote cross the road.
We hope that she is not heading toward I-10. She has managed to cross many busy roads, if indeed, she was properly sighted.
Please send your positive thoughts to Lorraine and hope for a happy ending.

How to catch a loose dog:
The worst thing you can do (especially with a loose greyhound) is try to chase her. You don’t have a chance of catching her and she will love the new game of outrunning the human.
Best thing to do is make a high-pitched noise or use a squawker – once you get her attention – turn and run in the other direction. While moving away, keep making the noise that you attracted her attention with.
If the dog does get close enough, kneel down, but don’t directly face the dog. Turn your body sideways. Looking the dog directly in the face or bending over her is likely to make her bolt. Talk softly, yawn, no fast or big body movements. Take really smelly yummy bits food with you. If the dogs gets close enough, toss them gently on the ground. While she’s eating make an slow, easy motion to grasp the collar.
Please, tell me this is not a Hollywood dog. If so she one of our first puppy’s. PLEASE!! let me konw if you find her..
Hollywood Tail?
This is not a Hollywood dog. The greyhound racing industry gives dogs dumb names. Ear tattoos – 124B, 30579.
Lorraine has not been found yet. Hundreds of people have gone out looking for her. If someone didn’t take her in, she is probably not alive. Sad.
The lost greyhound was found!
It’s indeed a miracle and she was found on Miracle Drive (no joke). She crawled under someone’s truck and they found her. She was still wearing her Arizona Greyhound Rescue tag (another miracle as loose dogs often lose their tags along the way.
She was rushed to the vet and is somewhat dehydrated and has lost weight but the prognosis is good. Amazingly, her spay surgery has healed.
These dogs and what they have endured never cease to amaze me.
