Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik drew a big crowd to his reelection kickoff party at Borderlands Brewing yesterday.

Kozachik promised a fierce campaign against any challengers as he talked about the various endorsements he’s picked up so far:

My purpose in coming out really hard and really aggressively is to say: Bring it on if you want to. It’s going to be a waste of your time and a waste of your money. We’ve got some good things going and we’re not going to let up.

Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild may have had the quote of the night as he discussed Kozachik’s switch from a Republican to a Democrat earlier this year:

I do want to address this little D and R thing. I know this from my own experience, and I don’t want anyone to take this the wrong way … but I think we all know, when someone comes out in your family, the family already knows. And in this case, we knew.

  1. All I know is when I called his office to complain that TPD told me they didn’t care if my neighbors started a loud party at 2 a.m. … his office didn’t care. When I called his office to complain that Cox dumped 100 lbs of asphalt in my garbage can … his office didn’t care. So why should I care? I hope someone does oppose him!

  2. ^^Hard to believe – TPD is eager to give out the red tags. Unless maybe they have rape and murder to deal with.

  3. Yes the Mayor is RIGHT – he acts JUST like a Democrat.. I will certainly vote against him now – no matter WHO else it might be.

  4. Hey, here’s an idea – how about if we ALL work together to make our community a better place to live, regardless of party labels? Our climate is changing & we’re facing all sorts of heretofore unseen challenges. Partisan bickering and pretending we don’t have to face up to consequences no longer suffices. I wish Steve all the luck in the world & I wish the Republicans all the luck in the world. Hatin’ on each other is a recipe for unhappiness.
