Over the weekend, former Arizona governor Jan Brewer was among the current and former elected officials who came out to endorse Donald Trump for president.
Brewer said her endorsement was based on Trump’s proposal to stop illegal immigration by building a massive wall along the border and rounding up undocumented immigrants. Many politicians have promised, as John McCain once said, to “build the danged fence,” but only Trump has come up with the idea of building a “beautiful” concrete wall and making Mexico pay for it.
It’s a plan that seems somewhat unlikely; former Mexican President Felipe Calderón told CNBC earlier this month that “Mexican people, we are not going to pay any single cent for such a stupid wall,” while former Mexican president Vicente Fox was more blunt in his comments, telling Univision’s Jorge Ramos: “I am not going to pay for that fucking wall.” Of course, when Trump heard that, he said the wall “just got 10 feet higher,” so those Mexicans had better zip their lips or it’s gonna cost them a lot of pesos once the Trump logo in on the White House.
Brewer—who really was governor of the state of Arizona for six years—apparently believes that Trump’s border proposals are not only feasible but the best ones out there.
“For years I pleaded with the federal government to do their job and secure our border,” Brewer said in a prepared statement released by Team Trump. “Today, we can elect a President who will do just that—Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump will secure our borders, defend our workers and protect our sovereignty. Mr. Trump will stand for our law enforcement, our police and our immigration officers. Mr. Trump will actually enforce the rule of law.”
Brewer added that Trump is the man to rescue America from the threat posed by illegal immigration, which has actually been on the decline for years.
“This may be our last chance to ensure our children grow up in a country with borders, and with a government that protects its own people,” Brewer said. “This is our chance—Donald Trump is our chance—to save this country and Make America Great Again.” (Those capital letters in Trump’s slogan appear in Brewer’s written statement, in case you’re wondering.)
Brewer joined New Jersey Gov. Chris Christy—who had earlier said that Trump was one of the “carnival barkers of today,” among other choice criticisms rounded up by Talking Points Memo—and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions in backing The Donald ahead of Super Tuesday. It’s hard to believe that someone involved in actual governing could believe that Trump’s endless spew of bullshit in any qualifies him for the presidency, so you’ll have to make your own guess as to why they are doing it. Do they want a job? Are they delusional? Have they watched too many episodes of The Apprentice?
Whatever their reasoning, they are undoubtedly helping the Donald in the GOP scrum by validating him as a legitimate candidate instead of the bullshit artist he really is. But who can blame GOP voters who swallow the snake oil Trump is peddling? Their leaders have happily been feeding them bullshit since Obama was elected president. Sadly, it just proves what the first Republican president once said: “You can fool some of the people all of the time.”

I thought it was the Clinton’s that say that. I’m sorry, it may have been them that said you can fool all the people all the time.
Hillary for Prison 2016
Sorry Debra but you are wrong. Hillary has never lied.

I think our erstwhile Governor ate too many scorpions for breakfast. (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/scorpions-…)
Let’s get real. How much did you get from him to say that?
Abby, that is a fabulous link on 13 minutes of Hillary lying. That’s why Mass. just lost 30,000 democrats. With Bernie gone, turnout will sink. Chelsea just hosted a rally for her Mom and had 75 people show up.
Ding dong the witch is dead…
Well, just goes to show that Mr. Chump has the moron vote all sewn up.
Unfortunately, in this decaying empire, with its increasingly infantile political culture, that may just give him a majority come November.
In an interesting turn, the NYT (which endorsed Hillary) has attacked her twice in the past two weeks. First, they admonished Clinton for not releasing transcripts of the $11,000,000 in “speeches” she’s made to Wall Streeters (including $775K to Goldman Sachs).
This past weekend the Times openly attacked Her Royal Clintonian in a lengthy expose of the key role she played in the destabilization of Libya including her ghoulish celebration of the murder of Qaddafi (“we came, we saw, he died”). Her candidacy could well prove to be the disaster many of us expect – her loss to to a sociopath in the general election.
And Juli, there is truly something odd with her trotting out Chelsea to buttress the nearly non-existent support among the 80+ % of young women who support Sanders. Really? HRC’s son-in-law, a hedge fund manager, worked for Goldman Sachs before striking out on his own.
I am Hillary, the great and terrible. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
TRUMP 2016.
Keep calling him names. Keep calling his supporters names and insulting their intelligence.
The victory will be that much sweeter, the saltier you shills get.
If Donald Trump is such an ineffective candidate, did you ever stop to think, “What is in this for him?” His current home is nicer than The White House (and trust me, I’ve been in The White House before). His current salary surpasses any funds accumulated through presidency. He’s a billionaire. He can do whatever he wants but he chooses to help our country.
He’s not a lying politician. He has proven financial success in his own life. The two biggest problems that out country faces is security and financial debt. He’s the only one that can solve both of these problems.
He’s not against Hispanics or Muslims. In fact he supports them. He wants the legal immigrants to have a great life in America. He wants to keep all of the criminals out, whatever race or ethnicity they may be. We have to be careful as to who we let into our country, no matter which country they come from!
Our own social security is running out, yet we are helping other countries who take advantage of us and mock us. I compare this to a mother on welfare that keeps having children while she can’t already take care of the ones that she already has. This is the state of our country right now.
Thank you Valerie. Well said. I think his speech last night was one of the best I’ve heard from him. I get tired of the name calling and insults, but he can of made them all join in, didn’t he?
Last night Hillary promised to leave the country just as great as it is, but add more love.
That’s going to tickle the berkas off the radical Muslims.
Please indict her and move on.
