Lookout Tucson, there is a new bakeshop in town and trust me, despite the name it’s no mistake!

WOOPS! (845 E. University Blvd.) originally comes from the busy streets of New York City, more specifically founded in 2012 with a small pop up shop in Bryant Park. Now, they have decided to take their dessert business southwest and chose Tucson as their prime location. The bakeshop opened its doors on University Blvd. near the UA campus just one week ago, and even in that short time, it is already stirring up a major buzz.

As the age of social media grows, WOOPS! bakery is capitalizing on two of social media’s favorite things, food and decor. With twenty different flavors of macarons to chose from, it’s any dessert lovers paradise. And, if that isn’t enough to get you in the doors its aesthetically pleasing decor alone gives you enough reason just to stop in to take a peak. A sweet treat and a great photo, what could be better than that?

  1. Huh. Is this that space at Main Gate Square that gets occupied by one restaurant or cafe after another and can never seem to hold down a permanent tenant? I think it was a cupcake shop last time I was there (admittedly quite a while ago). Well, maybe these guys will do better.

  2. This used to be an old clothing store besides Pei Wei. I dont think this is the spot you are referring to.

  3. Maybe a mistake to locate on University, particular spot or not. I think they didn’t do enough research. I would like to check them out. I don’t know if I can park anywhere or walk just for a macaroon. Yummy as they are.

  4. If they plan on succeeding, they need to lower their prices. They are charging the same here as they do in New York, which is a big mistake. A small cookie cost $2.50 and most college students will not pay that. They can go a block away and go to Paradise where their cookies are cheaper. I hope they succeed but this is Tucson, not New York City. Tucsonans and UofA students will not pay more for a cookie. Maybe the owner should of set up shop in the foothills.

  5. @GoCats! “A small cookie cost(s) $2.50 and most college students will not pay that” – I don’t know how long it’s been since you have been around the U of A, but a good portion of the student body nowadays come from wealthy families (see: horrendous, expensive student high-rises). When the overall cost of attendance for the year for in-state students is over $25k and $46k for out-of-state, they can afford the $2.50 for a cookie.
