Our two-month-ish extravaganza of Best of Tucson voting begins now, as the ballot for the 2013 edition is online.
There’s a nice moment for us to enjoy here at the Weekly when the ballot goes out, when the process seems so pure and idealistic, before we gather the results and put out the issue on September 26 and the complaints roll in. For now, there’s a blank survey full of possibilities, before some clowns vote for Taco Bell in the Best Mexican Fast Food category.
Voting lasts until May 31 at midnight. Don’t disappoint me here, Tucson.
This article appears in Apr 4-10, 2013.

And how, pray tell, would Tucson be disappointing you, dear Dan?
Duhhhhh: Did you read the rest of the post? The voting for national chains in our BOT voting is what disappoints me. Seemed like an easy article to understand.
Yes, Dan, that too infuriates me to no end. Rest assured my fellow local, independent, crusader, there will be national chains on top of at least some of those list, as usual.
I started to vote, then saw best gay/lesbian bar….. really? No ‘best straight bar’ because that would be offensive I’m sure.
Conservative Independent: Considering that Tucson Weekly has spent a fair amount of time covering issues of interest to the LGBT community, that category is fair game.
Plus, considering the number of Gay and Lesbian bars that have closed in recent years, it’s not a bad idea to highlight the ones that are doing well, right?
There are so many categories I’d like to see added into this survey, and many that should be thrown out, ie best video store! If you are interested, I’d be glad to enlighten you. When will the results be out?
