does it contain the inane blather by the commentariat, particularly Michael Gerson and David Gergen. My favorite Gersonism was, “you can have a memorial service or you can have a pep rally, but you can’t have both.” Really? According to whom? Is Michael Gerson the ultimate arbiter of what is acceptable conduct? (well, I’m sure he would say he is.)
This is no extreme comment in any direction…but what a motley crowd last night at McHale Center. There were chicks dressed in sexy, short skirts, guys with obscure pop music group shirts, every color of hair imaginable. And then the cheering, pep rally atmosphere…people cheering as if they were in the dreg’s balcony at the MTV awards. You couldn’t tell the difference.
For God’s sake, this was supposed to be a memorial. Where was the decorum, decency, and solemn remembrance for those killed? Last night’s crowd was there for a free event, that’s all. They had no clue what it was about. The whole thing was quite embarrassing indeed.
That motley crowd was Tucson, Firelog.
