An amusing shot at Captain of Industry Al Melvin today by Blog For Arizona’s David Safier, from information gathered by a few other blogs:

This same Al Melvin is Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Economic Development and Jobs Creation. The committee had 11 meetings scheduled. Seven meetings were called off. The four actual meetings totaled 3 hours and 53 minutes, with the final meeting, all the way back in February, lasting a whopping two minutes.

Here is the committee schedule:

1/12/11: Not Meeting
1/19/11: Cancelled
1/26/11: Met, 8 minutes
2/2/11: Met, 1 hour, 14 minutes
2/9/11: Met, 2 hours, 29 minutes
2/16/11: Met, 2 minutes
2/23/11: Not Meeting
3/2/11: Not Meeting
3/9/11: Cancelled
3/16/11: Not Meeting
3/23/11: Cancelled

Senator Melvin had a Job to do — help create jobs — and he didn’t do it. He didn’t even put forth the effort to hold meetings to discuss the issue.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. Melvin and Williams need to be recalled please. I wish I had the time, money, and resources to start this effort. Thanks to the wonderful representation in LD 26 where I live I must work two part time jobs just to keep the roof over my daughter’s head and ramen on the table. I am thankful for what I do have but thousands of others in the Flowing Wells area of LD 26 are not nearly as fortunate. Can we please kick these clueless men out of office already and get people in there that will help all of the district? Special interest groups and Saddlebrooke are all those two care about. They represent one of the poorest areas in the state yet I never see them here. Its a sad state of affairs.

  2. Melvin is sleeping on the job. He’s too lazy and needs to fired immediately. Get someone in there who actually represents the people and, you know, shows up for work and gets it done.
