Tucson Weekly columnist/noted Popeye’s Chicken aficionado Tom Danehy is a happily-married man, so this particular clip doesn’t do him all that much good. However, if he were on the market, he might want to call up Christina who appeared on Steve Harvey’s talk show to give a glimpse into how the spicy offerings of the Louisiana fast food chain affect her bedroom performance.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. I wouldnt go that far, but popeyes definitely gets me a lil warm in the britches.

  2. Besides enhancing Chistina’s prurient interests (Steve Harvey’s talk show), I think Popeye’s chicken is the best. KFC and Church’s can’t hold a candle to Popeye’s. My question to Popeye’s is this – Why can’t there be more than one Popeye’s in Tucson? I think Popeye’s management people are missing a great opportunity to tap into the market on the northwest side of Tucson. I live in Oracle and come to Tucson at least weekly. If there was a Popeye’s in NW Tucson, or especially Oro Valley, I’d be practically living there, and I know I’m not the only one shares this desire, even if mine isn’t quite so prurient as Christina’s. (he said, with a giggle)

  3. there is two if you count the one on base, but yeah they definitely need more.

  4. For Bernie Mak – I was told that civilians aren’t allowed on base just to go to Popeye’s. Besides, those two stores are only 4 miles apart – they are both on the southeast side of town. I live in Oracle, and do most of my business on the central, north and west sides of town. Again, It’s hard to imagine that Popeye’s management can’t see a business opportunity on the northwest side and Oro Valley.

For Susie T – I’m a total gringo when it comes to spicy food, and yet, whenever I have been in a Popeye’s, whether here or in Louisiana, I have always been offered the choice of spicy or mild. Geography shouldn’t matter, plus… I believe that the Shannon and Thornydale store is closed.

  5. The store at Thornydale and Cortaro was co-located in the Chevron station there. Wells Fargo bought the corner, tore down the building and put up a bank.

I also wish they would open another on the NW side.

  6. Oh, don;t get me wrong Mr. PVK, I am in total agreement with you kind sir. I personally would like a location in midtown for work lunches.

You are correct in saying that civilians can not enter the base strictly for fried chicken, as I have attempted.

  7. Maybe someone (us?) should start some sort of campaign or petition, trying to get Popeye’s attention, and get them to see the light. I can easily see 3 Popeye’s in town. The one already existing, one somewhere near midtown and one on the northwest side, but I don’t have a clue how to get that started. Suggestions anyone?

  8. Better yet why dont we pool some money and franchise one (or two) out ourselves? Hell at the rate that idiotic anti-foodie tucsonans flock the drive threws at chain fast food joints, we could be rich!

  9. I don’t know about you, Bernie, or anyone else, but with my present finances, I’m good for about $10. Sorry, but I wish I was better off. If only! :-/

  10. You should see the lines for the one on base at lunch time. It’s very popular in the food court. Mmm, red beans and rice!
