Over the past week, numerous media reports have detailed abuse at shelters housing immigrant children separated from their families due to the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policy. This comes after the Trump administration failed to meet a court-ordered deadline last week to reunite children and parents separated under the Trump administration’s policy. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement calling for DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s resignation:“The allegations of suicide attempts and sexual and physical abuse at facilities housing unaccompanied minors and those children separated from their parents at the border due to Trump’s zero-tolerance policy are disgusting, and demonstrate the administration’s complete incompetence in protecting the children they needlessly harmed. Make no mistake, Donald Trump and his cronies who implemented this policy are directly responsible for the unimaginable trauma inflicted on innocent children and their parents.
“These cases of abuse and the administration’s inability to reunite families demonstrate a blatant disregard for the well-being of children, yet Trump officials refuse to express any remorse or criticism of their policies. Secretary Nielsen has served as Donald Trump’s willing foot-soldier to implement these abusive actions. I call on her to resign because I have no confidence that she can act with humanity and solve this crisis she helped create. The administration must do everything in their power to reunite all the children who were separated from their families.”

Congressman Grijalva is Correct: Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen must be removed from Office for Blindly, with out Question, as the Nazi’s did in enforcing Hitler’s Orders, be removed from Office. The Neo Nazi Donald Trump must go as well, if the Republicans in Congress can put the Welfare of our Country as their First and Only priority and NOT in Supporting the Cruel, Barbaric , Mentally Unstable Trump so as to Maintain their Privileged/Power Positions!!

It is the same as the ideas some have that “Rules” are for everyone else and not for me that make this a difficult situation.
Unless there is evidence of Child Abuse, the removal of a Child from Parents as Punishment is a Clear Violation of the 8th Amendment of the Constitution. Donald Trump will be Impeached for this Egregious, Cruel and Barbaric Violation and His Supporters in Congress Booted out of Office!!

A resignation at this point in time is simply another opportunity for the current administration to put the entire fiasco/travesty behind it, just like they tried to do by signing a worthless pieces of paper that purportedly stopped a program that they initiated in the first place.
Now they are trying to pass the buck to non-government organizations that they will undoubtedly try to shift the blame to when the lost children cannot be found.
Instead of giving people who had a hand in this miscarriage of justice an out they should all be held accountable. Unfortunately, accountability in government today is as allusive as trying to catch a butterfly wearing boxing gloves and a blindfold.
If you really want to get the administration’s attention, how about referring these actions to the International Courts, not that they could do anything, but it might unmask this administration for the fascists they are.
Since the law that Congress passed requires that parents be separated from children after 20 days, Congress is the one responsible for separating families.
Of course Mr. Grijalva believes there shouldn’t be a border at all. And that the U.S. should convert to a socialist country like the ones these people are fleeing in the first place.
Grijalva is still mad about the Mexican/American War. He still believes southern Cal. and AZ, TX, are part of Mexico.
The general incompetent direction and policy changes being made by the Trump administration have been fraught with a lack of understanding of how to make America great in the first place. We have had shining moments as a nation and made dastardly errors too. But we must realize than no one gets it right all the time — BUT must continually strive to attain some lofty ideals. More energy needs to be spent on improvement instead of generating excuses, cover-ups and recreating past actions and ideas that warp our goals and sense of justice.
While I agree with Congressman Grijalva on many things – seeking resignations of officials and allowing an administration to put an issue to bed while “reorganizing” is ineffective. It must be realized that this administration has a habit of appointing new people who only make things worse — or claim ignorance of any problem and want “time to investigate.” I feel, however, making them judicially accountable and penalizing those individuals responsible is a good way to make things happen.
AND, then, if the president pardons the corrupt and incompetent, that record of of uncaring, inhumane and disconnected from reality should be heralded long and loud as the work of preparing to win a competent administration through legal election is being accomplished.
Also- I do quibble and object with the ad-hominem attacks on Congressman Giijalva and his heritage as the type of thinking that cultivates racism, unthinking knee-jerk disregard for human needs and an abdication of the use of intellect in approaching the real problems of life.
Congressman Grijalva like most of the leftist are Mentally Unstable and don’t even know what theyre talking about except to blame Trump because there Trump haters, first of all Trump didn’t make this policy, congress made it and Bill Clinton signed it in to law, Trump just enforced it and when Trump found out about the separation of children Trump did something about it and now children are not being separated from their family. If you don’t like the consequence of our laws don’t break them, there is a legal and an illegal way of coming to America.
