As the owner of Pam’s Fizzy Factory, Pam Fiske knows how to pamper children.
In Tucson Mall’s lower level, she offers services that most parents receive at spas. Stressed by school? A mani/pedi could be in order. Skin feeling dry because of time spent in the sun? There’s a facial with kids’ names on it. Need a new look? Fiske’s stylists will give princesses the royal treatment, complete with French braids and sparkles.
Whatever the treatment, the staff strives to keep clients happy.
“Kids need something like this, first of all, to teach them at a young age about pampering, self-love and taking care of themselves, and boosting their self-confidence,” she said.
“The other reason is we make our own bath and body products. That way we know what we use on the kids and that all the ingredients are good ingredients. We can promote products that we believe in.”
Manager Jodee Durazo has her reasons for working there.
“I have a teenage boy and I’ve always wanted a little girl,” Durazo said. “I get to play dress up with other people’s children all day and make them feel special and live out my dream of having a beautiful little princess.”
Parents like the services, too.
“I wanted to do something, she and I,” Celina Serrano said. Essie Serrano is her daughter. “It was something we could connect with… I love coming to this place.”
“I like to get my nails done,” said Essie, 4.
It’s all for entertainment’s sake, as the staff is not licensed in hair, nails or other treatments. No nails are filed, nor are cuticles or hair cut. Instead, the clients hands are soaked before nails are carefully polished. There are hand massages and moisturizing lotion applied. Clients may even get face gems, their hair braided and/or sparkles applied.

Fiske has been in business for a little more than three years and the spot is popular. Each month, Fiske runs a special. For May, the special was makeup with gems, a mini-manicure and a toy gem ring for $40.
Clients may also book parties, which are a maximum of two hours. They include a mini-manicure, mini-pedicure and a facial. Client ages range from 2 to 16 years old.
There are other packages, too. Parents may book a Mommy and Me Spa Day ($199), a Glamour Princess Party Package for up to six kids ($649), and lots of other packages with prices in between. An 18% gratuity and tax will be added for party packages and only three parents are allowed during a party.
If parents prefer, they may book Sparty, the party van. The Fizzy Factory’s staff will come to a client’s house where Sparty will roll out the pink carpet for up to six guests. They will enjoy an hour and a half of manicures/pedicures and facials aboard the van. The party ends with a pink lemonade toast in champagne flutes. The cost is $549 plus a gratuity.
One of Fiske’s favorite services is pedicures. Enter the pedicure space and it feels like entering a luxe castle. The floor is covered in sparkling gold flakes and the pink seating is a fainting couch. In fact, pink is the predominant color, accented with glam lights, mirrors, nail polish and furry Hello, Kitty purses. It is the stuff of a little girl’s dream.

Durazo enjoys working here and she would like everyone to know its joys.
“Those who haven’t been here before, I would like to invite them to come in and experience the magic that happens here and I’d like to create some memories for them,” she said.
Durazo added there are many reasons to visit the Factory, it’s for everybody. She calls it “not a girl-only zone.”
“We welcome boys to come in,” she said. “We do slime facials… All kids are welcome and dads are very welcome here.”
As she talked, a little girl jumped around, clearly enjoying herself. Her dad came in with her.
“I just fit that father in, he was really grateful,” Durazo said. “His little girl just got bit by a dog, so he brought her in and made her feel better.”
