Americans for Responsible Solutions, the political action committee run by Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly, is back in the Congressional District 2 race between Congressman Ron Barber and Republican challenger Martha McSally.
The 30-second ad, entitled “Values,” looks at McSally’s previous statements during her close 2012 race against Barber, when she said she would “propose no legislation” to address the rising costs of college tuition, opposed closing the so-called “gun show loophole” that allows people to buy gun from non-licensed sellers without a background check, and floated the idea of raising the retirement for Social Security.
In her 2014 campaign, McSally has backtracked on the education position, though she has yet to float any kind of policy proposal to deal with rising college costs. (A roundtable discussion on solutions to the rising cost of college education closed to the press, so it’s impossible to know what was said in the meeting.) Team McSally has not responded to the Weekly’s efforts to get clarification on her position on Social Security, although she has said she wants to protect it without expressing specific policy position. And while she has said she wants to close the so-called “stalker gap,” McSally hasn’t said whether she still stands by her 2012 opposition to background checks on private sales at gun shows.

Yes, but Jesus told her to run. Who wants to argue with Jesus?
She’ll turn Social Security into a wall street roulette wheel as soon as seniors forget what a mess was made under the last National Presidency that championed Deregulation at the cost of our middle class and working poor. She’d continue down the same road of insanity requiring “Not even a drivers license” for ammo and firearm purchases of even assault riffles and semi auto weapons. She’ll continue favoring Corporations over people and tax breaks for the wealthy and their tax havens at the expense and misery of our most vulnerable including our women and children struggling from the previous 40 years of Supply Side Tricklenomics, where our local news station her in Tucson just reported Arizonans and American workers both have now realized fewer vacation and personal days off than in 40 years. “Since Reaganomics”. If any of this sounds surprising to anyone ask yourself why, if like my family, we’ve received a tone of colorful political flyers bashing Ron Barber w little of what She intends to do for Arizonans to separate herself from the “Creators” that RUINED our national and World Economy, pre 08?
The Trick is what we got w Sub Prime, Stated Income, Income only Loans, all leading us to the Greatest Recession in Americas History. Don’t let these Muppet Politicians of Wallstreet and Big Banks control the reigns once again? There was a reason she lost even so slightly in a Republican majority state. I was one of those who was registered a life long Conservative, in 07 I realized to late Americas Conservative party is a far cry from “fiscal, economic, family, conservative” ? Boo!! Marth Boo!!!
Oh yeah, you libtards are a proven deterrent to criminal abuse of firearms. Every state, city or location that has restrictive gun laws, you will find mass murdering going on. You actually think that you can take all the firearms away from the people. I guess that the liberal left and the Nazis have a lot more in common than you think! Or the Communinsts under Mao or Stalin. They too, tried to take all the weapons and murdered millions of innocents. One thing that I can assure you, if you continue your insane agenda, you will find yourselves in the worst civil war ever recorded! And just because you won’t be on the front lines in that war (probably hiding under your beds), you will be amongst the first to be a casualty of it!!
Try the decaf, Rick.
Rick Jason, it appears that conservatives are more likely to hide under their beds, if they don’t wet them first.

Different day, same Democratic trick. Lie about your opponent.
How’s that Obama war going? Are they going to take back his Nobel Peace Prize?
I would not hole Colonel (Retired0 McSally to her 2012 positions. I think she disqualifies herself for service in Congress by her 2014 position: I can’t comment on policy issues until I have a congressional staff… to do my thinking for me? She is scheduled to appear at the annual meeting of the Tanque Verde Valley Association Wednesday evening, 7 to 9 pm, at the Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road, to “answer questions from the audience and the TVVA Board.” Maybe that’s where she’ll tell us what she would do about gun control and Social Security and medicare and Tucson’s economy of a post-A10 future.
I’m just wondering, for all the Arizonan’s concerned about the rising costs of Arizona’s Universities tuition, why aren’t we asking the governor, the Arizona legislature and the Arizona Board of Regents to control the costs of tuition? They are the ones who set the rates. Federal representatives have nothing to do with the state costs. I really didn’t know this was a “real” issue for Barber and McSally. It doesn’t seem to be an issue for Grijalva. What gives on this?
My objection to McSally is simple – if her military career and leadership were so stellar why was she never promoted to General? Other female pilots of her generation now wear stars so it’s not entirely chauvinism.
I’m thinking the Air Force found her unfit to make larger strategic judgments. Effective killing is not strategic planning. I’d guess her adamant flouting of local Saudi dress customs and decorum during the Desert Storm aroused exactly the kind of Islamic anti-Americanism her superiors warned against. We now know know the results of the writings of Osama Bin Laden on this subject.
The Middle East has a deep bench of homicidal maniacs, and adding McSally’s inability to foresee consequences to an already warhungry House majority could easily make this war last another two or three generations
Is Gabby running against Martha? Get her dark money out of my politics.
You guys are so right.
Did you notice who is standing next to her holding her up. The little pin head. Poor Gabby.
