I took a peek inside the new Frosty Jake’s Frozen Custard going in at 3102 E. Grant Road, and it looks like it’s going to be a good one. I tried to snap a picture of the menu board through the still-locked doors so you could join me in drooling over the tasty frozen goodness—but the blurry picture below is the best I could do.

  1. I’m starting to wonder about this place. We first noticed it there last fall, and we’re still waiting. They used to have a facebook page, but it’s now MIA. I wonder what the hold up is??

  2. Remember that the Cheesecale Factory sat virtually completed but unopened for an entire year at Tucson Mall when the mall was teeteromg on the brink of bankruptcy. Let’s hope Frosty Jake’s does open their doors because I’ve had frozen custard and it is not to be missed!

  3. Can’t wait! So badly want to try it! Hoping they don’t go bankrupt?! Didn’t know about Tucson malls financial troubles? Thought park mall owned them? Would never dream they would go out business!

  4. I know the guys that own the business, and YES, they are still opening. Coming soon, keep your eyes open …. hopefully 2 weeks.

  5. There were lights on inside the place about 9 Wednesday night, but nothing indicating when/if it will open.

  6. Spouse drove by Frosty Jack’s this afternoon and said people were at the window but there is still no “open” sign displayed.

  7. Ever heard of Culver’s, the frozen custard chain from Wisconsin that’s opening in Tucson soon? I’d have to say that Frosty Jake’s logo, colors and concrete dessert seem to be quite the rip off.

  8. Culver’s has nothing on Frosty Jakes. I stopped by last night and got a free sample with your wife. We both loved it. It opens tomorrow so stop complaining.

  9. I just ate here and I’m so sorry to say, it just doesn’t measure up. First off, the guy working there this past Friday night was … uninterested, to be kind. “What’s your favorite?” “Uh, I don’t know”, he muttered. “I guess (somthing)” I don’t even remember now. Not a good start.

Second, I’ve had good frozen custard. Try Andy’s back in the mid-west. Its butter smooth with zero crystals. And I mean zero crystals. This was crystal-y. It looked okay until you dug into it, then it kinda looked like ice cream.

I can’t tell you how disappointed I was. Maybe its okay for Tucson, but honestly, I’d take a good DQ any day. I’ve also had Culver’s in the mid-west and have high hopes for it, but its so far from my house, I have no idea when I’ll ever get out there.
