A more formal announcement is set for Bentley’s on Speedway today at 2 pm, but because we live in the 21st century, Fred DuVal is using YouTube to kick off his attempt to win the governor’s seat in 2014. Unless Chad Campbell throws his hat in the ring, as it stands, it looks like DuVal, a member of the Board of Regents, one time Congressional candidate, and connected to Bruce Babbitt and Bill Clinton, will cruise through the Democratic primary to face someone from the crowded Republican field.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. This dude seems kinda old to have a child that is graduating high school in 2025. His wife does appear as if she is significantly younger than him though. When the mudslinging starts this will be a hot topic.

  2. Age differences? Really? What about John McCain, doesn’t seem to be an issue for him.

  3. Isn’t it time for AZ to have a governor that we’re not embarrassed about? Do you really want to get hung up on how old his wife is? How about learning about his values, policies, governance? It’s no wonder we’ve had such lousy leadership here in AZ, voters are more worried about stuff that means nothing to their self interests, but are rather focused stuff that simply detracts from focus.

    Wake up AZ!

  4. I’m not hung up on the age thing. I couldn’t care less. If you guys don’t understand that The GOP doesn’t look for the smallest of molehills to make mountains out of then you must be out of touch. I’m just pointing out the inevitable. I’m not condemning, so please don’t jump to that conclusion. I’m sure Mr. DuVal or your average baboon would make a much better governor than our current one.

Oh, and about John McCain…please. He’s done or been involved in so many other things that nobody had to bother with the age thing. We’ve got WAY better material to hold against him so why bother with the small stuff?

  5. Will he secure the border, will he deport illegal aliens…those are the questions that this man should answer. If it’s no to all of the above..he won’t be getting my vote!

  6. Then I guess you won’t be voting for anyone seeing as those are not duties of a governor.
