And I say “former” only in the sense that Romney isn’t running for anything anymore, not that Kid Rock has backtracked. In an interview with Rolling Stone the multi-platinum rap/rock/country artist proudly announces that he’s still Republican—he’s just getting tired of some of the policies keeping him from running his new tour the way he’d like.
Apparently, Kid Rock’s business model for his new tour consists of charging $20 for tickets, anywhere you want to sit, from the front of the house to the back, as apparently everyone is equal in the world of Rock — and not only that, but he plans to pull random ticket holders from the crowd and move them up to the first rows as a special treat, and selling the next 18 rows via paperless ticketing. That happens to be the sticking point:
In places where it’s legal, rows two through 18 will be only available via paperless ticketing. Unfortunately, many states have outlawed the practice, which infuriates Rock.
“That’s one of the times I’m fucking embarrassed to be a Republican,” he seethes. “It’s fucking Republican lawmakers passing those laws, you dumbasses. They already did it in New York and they’re trying to do it in Michigan. I’ve even called some of those guys to try and stop it.”
Apparently, Rock tends to lean as much toward common-sense as he does any other ideology, according to this interview, saying that “athletes and musicians make astronomical amounts of money,” according to Rolling Stone. He continues, saying “people get paid $100 million to throw a baseball! Shouldn’t we all take less and pass some of that money onto others? Think about firefighters, teachers and policemen. We should celebrate people that are intellectually smart and trying to make this world a better place.”
Even if you don’t like Kid Rock (and if you don’t, middle school David Mendez would have some very pointed but polite disagreements with you,) it’s refreshing to hear a celebrity publicly say that, though they lean toward one side of the spectrum, they’re willing to hear things on both sides.

I’n annoyed with celebrities who think their political view is important.
Mr Rock’s Army recruiting commercials, shown in theaters nationwide, were some of the most disturbing pieces of right-wing militarist propaganda I’ve ever seen- aimed at 16 and 17 year olds. How many teenagers bought into Rock’s “Born Free” agitprop, only to end up killed or maimed in the American wars of aggression in Afghanistan and Iraq?
The previous comments show that inherent belief that people are stupid. 16 -17 years old make a life changing decision on the basis of a movie video? Celebrities who think their ideas are un-important? See what I mean?
Dan, no where did I remotely state that people are stupid. The fact is most people could care less about what these “celebrities” think about politics, and letely there have been a few that had their fans walk out because of that. see what I mean?
Kid Rock is Republican?

It was pretty slick propaganda, with top Hollywood production values, for which Mr Rock was paid a pretty penny, I’m sure. Our tax dollars paid for these expensive recruiting videos which ran all last year at multiplexes across America.
Kid Rock has blood on his hands, imho, even if only one teenager enlisted after watching his “Born Free” call to arms for God and Country.
Most celebrities are dumb about politics, but Kid Rock has proven himself smart enough to be a Republican. That’s really very encouraging.
smart enough to be a Republican is the same thing that paying your fair share of taxes is based on. For
Republicans the less you invest , in smarts, or taxes, the more you are Republican.
Just smart enough to vote against his own interests…that’s a true Republican. You deserve what you vote for.
