Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake is the latest target of the Senate Conservatives Fund, which is pushing the move to force a government shutdown over the funding of Obamacare.
The Jim DeMint-founded Senate Conservatives Fund is targeting Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) for not willing to endorse an effort to defund Obamacare or shut down the federal government in a new radio ad airing Monday.
“Senator Jeff Flake is no where to be found,” says the narrator in the ad. “Jeff Flake won’t stand up to President Obama and join conservatives in pledging to oppose funding for the implementation of Obamacare. So what’s his excuse?”
Speaking at a town hall in Gilbert, Ariz. this weekend, Flake said that while he “would love” to defund the law, “the continuing resolution is not the mechanism” to do so.

I think I need to give him a call and thank him for having some common sense for a change!
Gosh..a Republican with a brain!
The only political party that will punish one of it’s own for being moderate and actually serving the greater electorate.
-Tsk tsk
I am here in the Tucson area when Flake was running. I
thought he was a far right Republican. I was wrong.
Jerry Kelly was the far rightwingnut. Not Flake.
Kelly ran off with His tail between His legs.
I’m surprised they’re after him for Obamacare. I thought they’d be after him for that obnoxious immigration bill he signed on to.
These Conservatives have short term memories… back in the 90’s, the Repbulicans tried the same strategy, shut down the government, and lost the House and the Senate.
Stupid is as Stupid Does…
Smokescreen? He’s just trying to cover all bases. He’ll vote to defund.
I was extremely disappointed when he won the election, but he is, so far, not turning bad afterall. Where there is Flake there is hope (at least for this vitally important healthcare coverage implementation.)
and if Flake turns back to the extreme right, I will see
Him just like I see that wingnut Jerry Kelly.
He voted the party line after Sandy Hook. Can’t forgive him for that. As far as health care, I wouldn’t trust him an inch, either. If they actually succeed in shutting down the government over Obamacare, it’ll probably be the final straw for a lot of folks. They’ve voted 40 times. A lot of votes that could have been used to actually accomplish something other than catering to zealots.
