In the never-ending hunt for fish tacos, I had two different plates yesterday. The first was at Barrio, at JB’s recommendation. The fish of the day was salmon and they were loaded with black beans, guacamole and the standard fixins inside a soft flour tortilla. Very good, especially with the mango salsa that came on the side, but I think both Pastiche and El Charro are better.
For dinner, I tried the fish tacos at Bluepoint at La Encantada, after having a drink at the swank bar at North. Although the menu calls them “crispy fish tacos,” the three tacos were wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. The crispy part was evidently the fish, which was lightly breaded and, while not especially crispy, still terrific. The tacos came with cabbage and guac, as well as a smoky salsa on the side. The plate included black beans and white rice. They were also mighty tasty, tho they still trail behind the top two. The best part of the meal was the ahi tuna salad we started with.
Still looking for recommendations for more places to try.

If you ever get a chance to try the tacos at Barrio when tilapia is an option, Nintzel, do so. I’ve had the fish tacos there with salmon, and they’re merely decent. But with tilapia … wow.
You really should try the fish tacos at Taco Bron. They’re delish. And sometimes they have card games out back. I’m not sure what they play. Maybe poker? They also have cheapish beer. It doesn’t get much better than good fish tacos, poker, and cheap beer.
Is Taco Bron in Mexicotown? Ay Cabron!
Have you tried Rubio’s Original Fish Tacos? I’m not a big taco eater b ut I’ve had them and they are pretty good with lots of variety. They claim to have invented it. Perhaps discovered it for California would be more correct. Merry Xmas….

Morning,
Re: Taco Bron — it is at First and Fort Lowell near the best darn pizza place I’ve been to: Mario’s Pizza. (I’m biased on that). There also is another Taco Bron on Tanque Verde. For more information: tacobron.com
The fish tacos at Pico de Gallo in South Tucson truly rule. Surely, Jim, you have ingested these. I believe they are superior.
The fish tacos at Pico de Gallo are the best fish and shrimp tacos I’ve ever had. The hot sauce is simply fantastic too!
