Democrat Todd Camenisch complained last week that state Sen. Frank Antenori was avoiding debates with him after the League of Women Voters canceled a Sierra Vista event when the group didn’t hear back from the Republican lawmaker.

“I’m quite surprised,” Camenisch says, “but I guess Frank realizes that a Marine can kick an Army guy’s ass any day.”

But Antenori, a retired Army special-forces soldier who now works as a project manager for Raytheon, says he not dodging anyone; he just had a fundraising event planned with his fellow GOP candidates on the day of the proposed forum with Camenisch.

“I’m out raising enough money to bury him like a freaking fish in the backyard,” Antenori says.

Antenori says he’s looking forward to three debates with his Democratic challenger.

  1. So, Antenoris too busy fundraising to engage with the group at the forum, but he’s got all the time in the world for the people who are throwing dollars at him. Seems like a pretty good summary of his entire term in the Senate.

  4. Frank – take it down a notch! We just want to hear your opinions about how we are going to fix the mess in our state, not see you bury anyone in your backyard! As a politician, it is YOUR JOB to explain your views to your constituents.

  5. So Todd Camenisch is talking with constituents and ready to debate while Frank has to ignore the League of Women Voters in Sierra Vista to raise funds from the GOP? How long ago were the candidates notified of the debate schedule. Couldn’t he ask the GOP group to reschedule so that the Sierra Vista voters could have an opportunity to compare these candidates. This is not the first public forum Antenori has “boycotted” – I want to see Camenisch have an opportunity to present his views in a public setting as we already have the legislative record of his opponent – anti-education, anti-small business and focused on silly bills about light-bulbs.   9. It’s a sad day when an elected official openly admits that raising money is more important to him than talking to his contituents. Seems like it’s time for voters to put a halt to Antenori’s arrogance.

  10. Are you kidding me? What politician is trying to impress me with “I’m going to bury him in my back yard like a freaking fish.” or “Any marine can kick an Army guys Ass any day. “. Are they both stupid? I hope someone will run who has more than a third grade education.

  11. I wonder who would win that fight. The former green berret or the former marine. I think they should pull up thier sleeves and duke it out. Lets see who they really are and who will squeel like a fat pig.
