Feel the Heat

Some items worth noting this week:

• If you’re a local music fan, and you have not yet filled out
your Tucson Area Music Awards (TAMMIES) ballot, stop what you’re doing,
and head on over to TAMMIES.com to do
so! This round of voting ends on Wednesday, May 20.

Also, keep your eyes open for an announcement about the date of the
TAMMIES show. Word should be coming soon!

• While on the subject of voting: Please follow the rules when
filling out TAMMIES and Best of Tucson™ ballots. We’ve thrown out
a good 15 to 20 percent of the BOT ballots submitted so far, because
either 20 categories were not filled out; or because a full name and a
phone number or an e-mail address was not included. While it’s a shame
to delete all these ballots, we have to in order to assure the contest
is kept as free of ballot-box stuffing as possible.

To those of you who have ethically filled out ballots while abiding
by the rules: thank you!

• Seeing as we’ve been hovering around 100 degrees for the last
week … it’s definitely time for a Summer Survival Guide. We’ll have
that in next week’s issue—just in time for Memorial Day
weekend!—and it will include our summer movie preview, a helpful
summer reading guide, a list of summer Tucson events and much, much
more. Pick it up on May 21!
