Back in January 2009, we put President Barack Obama on our cover.

Inside, we featured reader-submitted reflections on what the historic and momentous election meant to them.

On our cover for January 19, 2017, we revisit that idea the week of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. This election was historic in so many, um, “unpresidented” ways.

So we’re asking readers to share their thoughts with us via “Dear Mr. President” letters to the Donald. Maybe you have a final plea for sanity or some thoughts on this past election season. I’m asking that the letters be no more than 300 words in length; those we are not able to print in the cover package may end up in an expanded online feature.

Get busy. Your deadline is Jan. 5.

  1. In just over 3 weeks you can say it loud and say it proud, Donald J. Trump, president of the U.S.A. I suggest for the sake of your own sanity that you build a bridge and get over it.

  2. I just hope for the best, but I doubt anything chages.
It doesnt matter, we will prevail either way.
Impeachment is a thought when warranted.
America is great already, we dont need anyone elect or not..to remind us!
It remines to be seen how much greater it can become, less prejudicism, I hope ,but asking the sun for water, unfortunately…but like say, The Best Is Yet To Come!

  3. I just feel that America is great already, no one needs to tell us. We need to just be better, stop being prejudice, be more equal and respectful toward each other.

The Best Is Yet To Come! No President or President Elect should tell us we will become great again. We are Great!
    Impeachment isnt too far away.

Put youre money in your words Mr. Trump!
My America is great! Just needs a reminder that WE the People together can do more than one elected official. God Bless America always!!!
