protracted and bitter
shines light onto the
dissension within our nation
Republicans withdraw support from
their presidential nominee
Democrats express concern
knowing theirs must win
Defamation of women
mockery of those with disabilities
racial and cultural slurs
spew daily from one candidate
The other prepares each day
for another onslaught of
bullying and allegations
Some true, some not
Discussions of issues lost
amidst rabid fear-mongering,
lies and accusations
Stress and disgust abound
With gross misrepresentations
given by candidates and media pundits
suspicion thrives where
trust once stood …
